Movie Review: ‘Captain Marvel’

I wouldn’t put it in my top ten Marvel movies, but it’s fun, there’s lots of action, and there’s some good characters moments. The story…it’s a little sloppy, and honestly, it’s the weakness of the movie, but it’s not that bad. At this point all of the Marvel movies are kind of must see as part of the focus on Avengers, Infinity War and Endgame. From that perspective, is it something you still have to see? Yes.
Keeping light on spoilers, you learn who Captain Marvel is and what her powers are in this movie. That’s going to be a necessity for Endgame and getting the most enjoyment out of her character. Without the groundwork laid in this movie, there’s no telling how Endgame will play out if that’s your first exposure to the character. However, seeing Captain Marvel also requires some homework. Before you go see this movie, you’re going to want to watch Guardians of the Galaxy. Some of the races/species, characters, ships and technology from that movie play a role in this one. It’s a connected universe and it’s constantly building off itself, which means those shared elements have more value if you’ve seen the whole story behind them. - Anthony Daniels will be heading to Celebration and doing a panel called Droidography on Sunday, and he’ll have an entire room dedicated to himself Saturday and Sunday (room W190A) for some special meet and greet experiences at $100 a pop.
- StarWars.com has revealed more exclusive merch for Celebration Chicago.
- New exhibitor pins have been revealed.
- The Star Wars Show will once again have a live show at Celebration, which is cool as that was pretty awesome last time at Orlando.
- Celebration panel schedules are up if you haven’t checked them out yet.
- Regal Robot will have an exclusive for the show – a Jabba’s dais magnet.
- Star Wars Celebration exhibitor exclusive lotteries are now open for those who want to enter (this is for Fuko, LEGO and Hasbro).
- Gentle Giant has revealed their Celebration exclusives which include a mini bust of Hera and a status of spider Maul.
- Pre-orders are up for the ARTFX+ Celebration exclusive droids R2-K9 and R2-B1.

- Star Wars Celebration 2019 is April 11 to 15 in Chicago, IL. Star Wars authors who will be in attendance include Jeffrey Brown, Katie Cook, Zoraida Cordova, Delilah S. Dawson, Alexander Freed, Claudia Gray, Justina Ireland, E.K. Johnston, Cavan Scott and Timothy Zahn.
- ConGlomeration is April 19 to 21 in Louisville, KY. Star Wars guests include Timothy Zahn.
- D23 is August 23 to 25 in Anaheim, CA.
