Movie Review: ‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’
July 6, 2018 at 3:05 pm | Posted in Movies, Reviews | 1 CommentSicario: Day of the Soldado takes Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro and throws them back into a war in Mexico against the cartels. With a shift in focus from drugs to human smuggling, they continue the main idea of the US attempting to manipulate the cartels by any means necessary. And like before, there are subplots, but this time it’s not revenge.
In the first movie, they tried to establish one cartel to rule them all in order to gain control. In this one, they try to start a civil war between the cartels in order to weaken them. Alejandro, played by Del Toro, still plays a key figure in trying to get the job done. Brolin continues his part as the gung ho CIA operative leading the mission. With them stirring up chaos in Mexico, it leads to a lot more action than the first movie. Yet the story still catches the vibes of the first one.
