Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Blast Points Podcast: Episode 105 begins with Solo news, Episode IX news, the real story behind Black Diamond–which is hilarious–and then they go over The Art of The Last Jedi book. They highlight some of their favorite things from the book, go over some of the making of details, touch on Master Codebreaker’s original story, share their favorite art, and lament that there isn’t a Caretakers cartoon like Ewoks and Droids. They cap off with some listener feedback. Fun episode.

Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 1 hour 2 minutes, Audio Quality: Excellent, Editing: Excellent, Hosts: Jason, and Gabe, Rating: Fun

Blast Points Podcast: Episode 106 begins with Solo LEGO news, the Pikes and the Kessel Run, Mimban stormtrooper and tie to Splinter of the Mind’s Eye and Rogue One, and a little Episode IX news. Their main discussion is the legacy of Jedi failure. From Palpatine’s election in The Phantom Menace without them noticing he was a Sith, to them losing their way in the Clone Wars, their hubris, and then Luke learning the lesson by ending things with his selfless sacrifice on Crait to help others.

Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 56 minutes, Audio Quality: Excellent, Editing: Excellent, Hosts: Jason, and Gabe, Rating: Good

Brews and Blasters: Episode 151 begins with Joe’s computer letting him down as the party starts. After they get done talking eggs, they celebrate being pregnant, and they touch on the importance of the number 2187 in Star Wars. They spend some time on the much loved alien Hammerhead, and they do some need’em got’em for new figures they’ve gotten. Fun episode and fun discussion. Also, a congratulations is in order for their big news. May the Force be with them.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Beltway Banthas: Episode 46 touches on Swara’s trip to Japan, then they dive into The Last Jedi as they share their thoughts on the film. They talk about the Force connection between Kylo and Rey, Stephen’s thoughts on Daisy Ridley overacting, their issues with Holdo not telling Poe her plan, why the Resistance is all the sudden a Rebellion again, and whether that might have been a real world political move. They talk about being surprised that Leia didn’t die, and much more. Lots of great discussion touching on some really nice points. Definitely worth a listen. One of the things that makes Beltway Banthas unique is their focus on politics in and out of universe for Star Wars, and with The Last Jedi, there’s plenty to touch on. It’s a great place for intelligent, in-depth Star Wars discussions.

Podcast Network: Retrozap, Runtime: 1 hour 1 minute, Audio Quality: Excellent, Editing: Excellent, Hosts: Stephen, and Swara, Rating: Great

BondCast: Dr. No, Part 1 covers the first Bond film. They talk about the magic of Sean Connery, the introduction of the character, Jack Lord as Felix, the backstory of Dr. No, the cold blooded killing of Dent, the tarantula’s death scene, the lack of gadgets and more. The BondCast is hosted by Jason and Jimmy Mac from Rebel Force Radio, and Jonathan Wilkins, former editor of Star Wars Insider, who is also a Brit which adds a nice touch to the discussion. I’ve known about the Bondcast for a while, but to be honest, I never watched any of the old Bond films…until recently, which then had me jonsing for some Bond discussion. The BondCast was just the thing I was looking for. With all the great production and audio quality of the Rebel Force Radio main show, the BondCast focuses each episode on one of the Bond films as they dive into the interesting elements of the film, lots of fun trivia, and comparisons between the film and the books. If you’re a Bond fan, you’ll want to check these out.

Podcast Network: Rebel Force RadioRuntime: 52 minutes, Audio Quality: Excellent, Editing: Excellent, Hosts: Jason, Jimmy, and Jonathan Wilkins, Rating: Fun

BondCast: Dr. No, Part 2 discusses Ursula Andress, her role as Honey Ryder, and how she stands out from the other Bond girls. They talk about Ian Fleming’s rumored cameo, the other female characters in the movie like Freelance and Trench, they touch on Sean Connery’s age and his contemporaries for the role of Bond, Quarrel, the book vs the movie, the music, boolaloops, and lots of other trivia. Excellent discussion.
