Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review. There’s some pre and post-trailer release episodes in here.

Blast Points: Episode 94 dives into The Last Jedi trailer. Gabe and Jason keep it fun as always. From the AT-AT farm and Kylo’s space band-aid, to Phasma’s toothpick and the Rey vs Snoke showdown. They speculate on whether the Kylo/Rey scene is a fake out, the lack of Hux, and more. If you’re hunting down trailer discussions, this one is definitely worth putting on the playlist.

Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 55 minutes, Rating: Great

Bombad Radio: Episode 288 kicks off with a discussion of the book Star Wars Made Easy. They talk a little about Inhumans, and then they get into their main discussion which is their recommended movie and television show picks for streaming services Amazon Prime and Netflix. If you have either service, and you’re looking for some recommendations on what to watch, this episode is worth a listen. Afterwards the fire up the porgs and top things off with a porg song. While the porg count has been retired, there are a lot of porgs in this episode.

They have a non-spoiler discussion of It, talk about Harrison Ford punching Ryan Gosling in the face, the Toys R Us bankruptcy, they discuss the upcoming trailer drop for The Last Jedi (this was recorded pre-trailer release), and there’s even some audio from their first episode. They also discuss Star Wars Rebels Season 4, speculate on the fates of the characters, there’s some listener emails, and need’em got’em.

Afterwards Dan is joined by Sarah Woloski and Jared Cantor as they talk about Jyn and Cassian’s relationship, which is a pretty good discussion. It’s nice to see Rogue One not being left behind. The episode wraps up with Tom and Kaylee going over the DK Star Wars Coding Projects book.

Podcast Network: Coffee With KenobiRuntime: 1 hour 32 minutes, Rating: Good

Coffee With Kenobi: Episode 90 is their live recording from Star Wars Reads Day. Dan doesn’t state where the event took place, but it sounded fun. They have guests, they interact with the audience, do giveaways and talk Star Wars. There’s even the news from NYCC. The audio is a bit rough, but Coffee With Kenobi fans will still probably want to check this one out.

Podcast Network: Coffee With KenobiRuntime: 41 minutes, Rating: Okay

Coffee With Kenobi: Episode 91 features Dan and Cory as they talk about their initial reactions, what impacted them the most, their top five things from the trailer, and what didn’t work for them (which I haven’t heard any other podcast tackle yet). Lots of discussion in this episode as they breakdown the various elements of the trailer.

Podcast Network: Coffee With KenobiRuntime: 1 hour 5 minutes, Rating: Good

Databank Brawl: Episode 71 pits Strono ‘Cookie’ Tuggs, the cook at castle Kanata, against Ubert ‘Sticks’ Quaril, the drummer in the Maz Kanata band. They have on guest Mike Black to join them for the brawl, and this one gets brutal.

Corey shares his thoughts on J.J. directing Episode IX and Chris Terrio co-writing (note this episode is pre-trailer release). They cover the news with Alan Tudyk writing some upcoming stories for IDW’s Star Wars Adventures, Delilah S. Full of Sith: The Trailer Council pulls out all the stops as they assemble Shana Anthony Breznican, Holly Frey, O’Neil, Kyle Newman, Bobby Roberts, Steele Saunders, Chris Taylor, and Amanda Ward for an all star panel to discuss The Last Jedi trailer. Podcast Network: Bright Tree RadioRuntime: 25 minutes, Rating: Good

Magic on a Dollar Podcast: Episode 1 kicks off a new podcast hosted by David Dollar who also hosts The Deucecast Movie Show. This podcast is all about the Disney theme parks. Dave talks a little about Hollywood Studios, Galaxy’s Edge, Mickey’s Runaway Railroad, the Tron rollercoaster, Mission Space, and other updates to rides and attractions. Now Dave has a tendency to talk a little fast and non-stop, so for a 33 minute episode, this thing is jam packed with information. Perhaps a little too jam packed. It can be a little hard to absorb it all. A few more pauses or breaks would probably help. If you’re a Disney theme park fan, this could be a good way to stay on top of the news. The audio quality is good, but there’s not much in the way of editing or production quality yet.

Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 33 minutes, Rating: Okay

Rebel Force Radio: The Last Jedi Trailer Review kicks off with Jason, Jimmy, Kyle Newman and Paul Bateman as they discuss the trailer. There’s listener call-ins that include a few notables like Jedi Shua and Steve Glosson, F.J. DeSanto joins them later on, and there’s plenty of theorizing and speculation.

Podcast Network: Rebel Force RadioRuntime: 2 hours 41 minutes, Rating: Good

Skytalkers: This Galactic Life: The Last Jedi Full Trailer Reaction features Charlotte and Caitlin as they rejoice over the amount of Kylo, debate whether the Kylo/Rey scene is legit or a fake out, discuss which scenes might be cut together, what we didn’t see, what was focused on, and other thoughts and speculation. This episode isn’t as organized as their usual episodes, but they bring a lot of emotion to their initial reactions as they begin shifting through all the goodness the trailer had to deliver.

Podcast Network: Star Wars Escape Pods NetworkRuntime: 44 minutes, Rating: Good

Star Wars 7×7: Bonus Episode Why You Might Want to Avoid The Last Jedi’s Final Trailer doesn’t have any spoilers, but gives listeners a heads up on the type of info they would learn from the trailer. Podcast Network: N/A, Runtime: 10 minutes, Rating: Skippable

Star Wars 7×7: Bonus Episode The Last Jedi Full Trailer Breakdown is pretty thorough as Allen goes through the trailer with some great observations and analysis. He ties it into other things we’ve seen released elsewhere which provides some great connections. Good stuff.

Podcast Network: Star Wars CommonwealthRuntime: 30 minutes, Rating: Okay

Talk Star Wars Toybox Daily: Episode 10.9.2017 starts with the Star Wars Tracker report. Now I’ve haven’t been listening to the show, so I’ll be honest, I’m not really sure what the Star Wars Tracker thing is. Stats for eBay Star Wars auctions? Afterwards there’s NYCC news and some other toy news.

Podcast Network: Star Wars CommonwealthRuntime: 30 minutes, Rating: Okay

Talk Star Wars Toybox Daily: Episode 10.10.2017 talk a little about the Star Wars Vintage collectors app, companies that produced Star Wars toys back in the day, and other Star Wars collecting podcasts. So if you’re looking for other collecting podcasts to check out, this one might be worth a listen. After listening to a couple episodes of Talk Star Wars Toybox Daily, I’m probably going to drop this one from my playlist. It isn’t bad, but it isn’t great. It’s solo hosted, which in my opinion is always very difficult to pull off unless the listener really likes the host. This podcast is a bit dry for my tastes, the audio is a little clippy, which hurts the quality which would otherwise be really good, and it just doesn’t my personal podcast tastes. It might work for others, though, so it’s worth a try.

Podcast Network: Star Wars CommonwealthRuntime: 17 minutes, Rating: Okay

Tarkin’s Top Shelf: Episode 22 has Mark and Becca talking Phasma. They discuss the book, dig into the setting, the plot, Phasma hiding behind her mask, creating her armor, Cardinal and they do get into spoilers.
