Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Beltway Banthas: Interview: Vince Houghton of the International Spy Museum is, as the title implies, an interview with Vince Houghton who is a curator and historian and the International Spy Museum. The interview is done by John Liang, so it doesn’t feature the usual hosts of Beltway Banthas, but this interview, which is more of a conversation, is pretty good as Vince also does a regular event talking about Star Wars spy craft which becomes the main subject of this episode. Vince talks about the spy museum, spies in Star Wars, flaws in Imperial intelligence operations, geospatial analysis in Star Wars, and also just his general thoughts on Star Wars and Disney. Very fun conversation.

They talk about a variety of topics from what made Star Wars great in the beginning to what will happen to Kylo Ren. They keep the conversation going for most of the episode and toward the end it turns over to a trivia contest for swag with the audience, but there is a lot of good discussion in the panel overall and it’s good audio quality so definitely worth a listen.

They talk about the OT’s perspective with clearly defined good and evil, right and wrong, and then dive into the prequels where good and evil, right and wrong are not always so neatly aligned. They provide examples with characters like Padme, Luke, Cassian, Star Wars Battlefront II and Inferno Squad, Sinjir and Aftermath. It’s a nice little discussion well worth further exploration.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 1133 is an older episode, and perhaps not one you would go back to at this point as it covers the EW articles, the praetorian guards, Finn piloting and the TIE Silencer. If you’ve been listening to a lot of Star Wars podcast, you’ll already be familiar with all of this. However, Allen pointed out his perfect porg free rating, so I had to go back and find an episode where he mentioned porgs. This was one of them.
