Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

501stCast: Episode 100 celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Legion. They reach back into their archives to play a little of the opening for their first podcast episode, recount that in 2003 they had 3,000 costumes and now they’re over 10,000. They go over the news of the Episode VIII title The Last Jedi, the latest news on the Lucas museum, and they go over mission reports with some excellent examples of the good they do. Plus Dr. Evazan promotes the 501st Bash for Star Wars Celebration Orlando. Good episode.

Blast Points: Episode 57 kicks off with some news discussion. They cover Woody Harrelson on his Garris Shrike comment, Episode VIII costumes, and some highlights on the Rogue One secrets on The Star Wars Show. Their main topic is the Whills. They talk about everything we’ve been told about them, and the speculate on the connections from convories to the first Jedi Temple. Plus they get into listener emails. Good episode.

Blast Points: Episode 58 celebrates the 20th anniversary of the special edition of A New Hope. But first Gabe talks about his recent trip to Universal Studios and talking to E.T. about his Jedi training. They share their thoughts on The Last Jedi, then they get into their main discussion. Jason talks about seeing it 17 times in two days, and in general, they share the love. Great episode.

Bombad Radio: Episode 270 discusses crossovers and team-ups with guests Jesse Graves and Jeff McGee. They talk comics, Marvel/DC, tv shows and crossovers they’d like to see, which leads into some really fun conversations. Harry Potter and Doctor Strange? Nick Fury and the Predators? True Blood and Supernatural? It’s lots of fun.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 105 features Joe and special guest co-host Bill Drewnowski as they talk Star Wars, Star Gate, Star Trek and more. There’s collecting, there’s news and there’s lots of fun opinions. Great episode.

Disney Vault Talk: Top Ten Disney TV Shows cuts out some of their usual bits and goes straight into a discussion of their top 10 favorite Disney TV shows including ones like Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, Goof Troop and Gummi Bears. Lots of fun packed into this episode as Steve and Teresa cover two generations of fandom.

Fauxthentic History: The Boonta Eve Podrace features Holly and Bryan as they talk about the history of the race, podracing in general, and they rundown the details on each racer. Pretty cool episode and very enjoyable. Be sure to check this one out.

Fauxthentic History: The Pirate Code goes Pirates of the Caribbean as they go over the rules and history of the code, far deeper than anything the movie revealed. Kind of fun, and it was cool that Holly actually made hardtack.

Fly Casual: Episode 121 begins with cold medicine and a Star Wars game story then heads into the news with The Last Jedi and Rogue One box office numbers. They get off track with the Oscars which leads to CHIPS, then they come back to The Last Jedi for some more discussion. Then they get into toys news as they talk about UK Toy Fair, Revel, Hallmark, Rey’s new costume, Her Universe, TIE Striker, and new Funko Pop Walmart exclusives. It’s off topic, it’s on topic, and it’s fun either way. Good episode.

Full of Sith: Episode CCII focuses entirely on Star Wars Rebels. They go over “Visions and Voices,” Maul’s plight, “Ghosts of Geonosis,” Saw, klick klack furniture, “Warhead,” the bomb, the droids, “Trials of the Darksaber,” and how Ezra made it all about him. Funny episode with lots of great discussion points.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 56 features Ash from Skyhoppers Podcast as she talks about making a Kanan mask. Pretty cool.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 59 features Tim’s Star Wars origin story as he talks about seeing A New Hope for the first time.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 60 is a news roundup for January 28th. Good way to catch up on the news fast.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 61 is a toy opening episode as Tim talks a little toy trading and goes over his new vintage figures.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 62 is 10 silly Star Wars questions with Ash. These are always fun to listen to.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode 63 features Darth Taxus and Dennis Keithly as they talk about their Star Wars podcast Starships Sabers and Scoundrels including how the podcast got started. Good episode that runs just a little longer than usual packing in some more fun content from the interview.

Rock Out Loud: Unpopular Opinions starts out with some discussion of Bruce Springsteen’s new book, Kristin recaps her latest encounters with The Struts, then they dive into their main topic which covers musical opinions which might be unpopular. For instance, Kristin states 7800° Fahrenheit is better than Slippery When Wet, Steve almost says he likes Creed but backs out of it, they declare Darkness on the Edge of Town the best record Bruce Springsteen ever released, Slang being one of Def Leppard’s greatest albums, etc. Interesting episode with lots of fun discussion and music clips.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 938 goes over Rogue One’s box office numbers and Oscar nominations.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 939 has some Han Solo news as Allen goes over Diego Luna’s recent comment, Woody Harrelson’s comment on Garris Shrike, and the possibility of filming moving to March.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 941 is an interview with Greg Proops who voiced half of the two-headed podrace announcer in The Phantom Menace. Greg goes over the story of how all that happened which is littered with humor. Definitely worth a listen.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 942 goes over Rogue One and its similarities to video games.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 69 features guest William Devereaux as they talk a little about the Darth Maul comic, books, The Art of Rogue One, complete locations, coloring books and Galactic Maps. Then they head into their main discussion Aftermath: Life Debt. They talk about the trouble they had connecting with the characters, they go into the interludes, the side characters and events, then they dive into the main plot points. Good discussion.

Talk Star Wars: Episode 56 covers an assortment of topics including whether Lando will be in Episode VIII, Vader hanging out in Cloud City, Luke being serious or humorous in The Last Jedi, the similarities between the films, the secret apprentice, Ezra and him being Snoke, listener feedback, their thoughts on what they’d bring back to canon, inverse themes and their thoughts on The Last Jedi and the red font. Good episode.

The Sandcrawler: Episode #14 gets nostalgic, from the great opening to their memories of vintage Kenner figures, this one takes a walk down memory lane for some fun. They even have a record flip break in the middle, plus there’s toy finds and listener feedback.

Western Reaches: Episode #21 features guests Mike Audette and Mike Templeton as they talk with Megan and Saf about books and games then dive deep into Pokemon Sun/Moon. Now fair warning, if you’re not very well versed in Pokemon video games, this episode might be a bit much for you. They go into a lot of details and mechanics on the game which went right over my head. However, if you have played the game, this one might be right up your alley.
