Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review. Lots of Rogue One discussion episodes, some better than others.

Assembly of Geeks: Rogue One Reviews starts with some discussion on Gotham City Sirens and a Deadshot movie, then they move into their reviews of Rogue One with guest Dan Zehr (Coffee With Kenobi). While there’s no love for Bor Gullet or Saw, they do discuss the things they liked as well as the things they didn’t like, what they wanted, the CGI, possible plot holes and ranking it.

Bantha Fodder: Episode 15 is a Christmas special as they do their own version of “Twas A Night Before Christmas” but Rogue One themed. Worth a listen.

Bombad Radio: Episode 264 features James, Jeremiah, Jason and author Adam Bray as they talk Rogue One including expectations, the things they liked, disliked and listener feedback. Good episode. Note there’s more listener reviews at the end of the episode so when the main discussion ends and you hear someone else speaking, that’s what’s going on. It threw me off guard at first as I though maybe a different podcast had started playing, but it’s just a listener review.

Bombad Radio: Episode 265 starts out with Jeremiah and Zack as they kill time talking books, Star Wars and video games as they await their guest. Their interview guest in this episode is voice actress Carrie Keranen who talks about Star Wars Battlefront, keeping secrets, the business of voice acting, how she got started, vocal exercise tips and more. It’s a really good interview. The audio cuts out just a little here and there, but it’s very very minor and otherwise the audio comes in clear. Definitely worth a listen for fans of voice actors or the voice acting industry.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 100 features Chris and half of Joe as he powers through the entire multi hour episode despite losing his voice. The have on a ton of guests from various outlets of the Retrozap community as they all come on to talk Rogue One.

Children of the Force: Episode 55 is their Rogue One episode. They start with some pre-show audio including their predictions, and then they have their thoughts and observations after seeing the movie. They take a break, then come back with more thoughts including what they thought was the tear jerker moment and much more. Good episode.

Fly Casual: Episode 118 is their Rogue One spoiler cast as they go over their favorite quotes, ranking the films, the Rebels, the CGI, what did and didn’t work, some love for Vader, some love for Saw, and they have a blue milk Christmas song. Good episode with some hilarious moments.

ForceCenter: Episode 44 is a more laid back episode as they talk about enjoying being a fan of Star Wars, all this stuff we’ve gotten this year, how much you need to know in regards to Rogue One, Catalyst and Star Wars Rebels, what literature and tv add to the films. They also dive into listener questions which leads to deciphering the timeline of Leia, the droids, Raddus, Vader and A New Hope, and the backgrounds of Ponda Baba and Dr. Evazan. Good episode with a lot of enjoyable discussions.

Hangin’ With Team Kanan: Episode 26 includes discussion of Star Wars Rebels episodes “An Inside Man” and “Visions and Voices,” plus some Rogue One discussion. They talk Thrawn, Maul and Saw all in one episode.

Jedi Journals: Catalyst A Rogue One Microcast features and excellent interview with Catalyst author James Luceno who talks about adapting to changes in the script and the challenges of the time period. This one is my pick of the week as James provides some great insight into the project.

Jedi Journals: Rogue One A Star Wars Microcast features their thoughts on Rogue One including the films shortcomings, what worked, the differences between the film and the trailers, plus some literature news.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode #0037 features guest Ryan Dassing, a fellow listener, as they tackle the sequel trilogy and Anakin still being the chosen one.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode #0038 features 10 silly questions with Ryan Dassing. The 10 silly questions episodes are always fun, so be sure to squeeze this one in your playlist.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode #0039 discusses how the Rogue One trailers and tv spots spoiled some moments in the movie.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode #0040 is a gut reaction to the first half of season three of Star Wars Rebels.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode #0041 is a Rogue One discussion between Tim and his son Declan which leads to some interesting comments.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode #0042 is an action figure opening episode.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Episode #0043 spotlights the hosts of the Hot Wampa podcast.

Less Than Twelve Parsecs: Bonus Episode #0003 is a somber episode on Carrie Fisher’s passing as Tim recounts the the role and impact Carrie had on his life. The show wraps up with a Leia song by The Yavin 4.

My Star Wars Story: Episode 22 features Alexander B. Gates as he shares his Star Wars story going from micromachines to the Peace Corps, Celebration Japan, collecting, community and traveling. Good episode and another unique story adding insight to the Star Wars fandom.

OotiniCast: Episode 293 has some discussion of Rogue One in the beginning including some thoughts on the 3D version, then they head into their usual content which focuses on Star Wars: The Old Republic. They’ve got good audio quality so if you’re a TOR fan, you might want to give this podcast a try.

Rebel Force Radio: 2016 Stocking Stuffer is a mix of Star Wars Christmas songs in a variety of styles.

Rebel Force Radio: Episode 12.23.2016 is part two of their Rogue One discussions. This time they talk with F.J. DeSanto, Tom Spina and Andy Hurley, which also leads to some TFA discussion. Good episode.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 897 covers a little Rogue One and points out some of the ties to Catalyst and nods to Star Wars Rebels.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 898 talks about Cassian’s “Han shot first moment.”

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 901 focuses on the romance in Rogue One and the saga as a whole. One of the nice things about Star Wars 7×7 is that the short format show allows the podcast to focus on specific subjects which leads to some fun coverage that helps it stand out from others. Certain discussion points can get overlooked or hidden away in the longer format shows, but with 7×7, they get highlighted for some well deserved attention.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 902 focuses on the evolution of Bodhi Rook’s character in Rogue One looking at how the reshoots and varying script drafts changed the character. Very cool episode. You’ll definitely want to check this one out.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 907 is a year in review episode as Allen recaps Star Wars movie news and goes over the sales numbers for The Force Awakens and box office numbers for Rogue One.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 908 is a farewell to Carrie Fisher as Allen touches on her career, her life and her legacy.

Star Wars Action News: Episode 489 has a big roundtable for their Rogue One spoiler discussion and with lots of viewpoints providing a hefty amount of criticism and a variety of opinions. You’re sure to agree with some and vehemently disagree with others.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 68 features Teresa, Aaron and special guests Riley and Bethany as they discuss Rogue One including expectations and results, Force sensitivity, K-2SO humor, the nature of critiquing, and ranking the movies. Fun discussion.

Star Wars New Canon Book Club: Episode 19 is a full spoiler discussion of Star Wars: Catalyst. This one is no holds barred as they tear into the book and share their complaints. The discussion is a little disjointed as they jump around. They do discuss the things they liked, and there is some cussing. If you liked Catalyst, you’ll probably want to skip this episode.

Star Wars New Canon Book Club: Episode 20 covers Rogue One with a full spoiler discussion. They talk about the movie, touch back on Catalyst now that they’ve seen the movie, and share all their thoughts and observations. Pretty good episode.

Star Wars Oxygen: Volume 38 is their first dive into the music of Rogue One as they talk about Deus Ares in Jyn’s theme, the callback to A New Hope, and weaving in Obi-Wan. Great stuff and Dave plays a lot of piano, plus he talks a little about his voice work in Rogue One and which of his lines made it into the movie.

Talk Star Wars: Going Rogue with Anthony Breznican episode is a special Rogue One conversation with Anthony as they share their thoughts, talk about the easter eggs, cut scenes and interesting ideas for sequest. Great episode.

Talk Star Wars: Episode 53 covers the news of their new monthly podcast TSW Roundtable, and their usual variety of discussions fueled by listener questions. They talk about Star Wars character playlists, whether Rogue One is really a standalone movie, why the First Order uses a sun powered weapon instead of kyber crystals, balance, Coruscant and the dark side, whether the Star Wars Rebels cast could be around for the Original Trilogy events, when did Ben leave Luke and did he know Leia wasn’t on Hosnian Prime when it was being destroyed, listener feedback on Rogue One, remastering A New Hope in 4k, and using a Snoke puppet for Episode VIII. Good episode with lots of great discussions.

Talking Apes TV: Tales From the Forbidden Zone almost made my pick of the week. In this episode they talk with Planet of the Apes: Tales From the Forbidden Zone editors and contributors Rich Handley and Jim Beard as they talk about how the project came about, the selection of stories and authors, and their love for the series. Afterwards they have on author John Jackson Miller who talks about his story for the anthology, how he was approached and how he came up with the idea for his story. Excellent episode.

Technoretro Dads: Initial Reactions to Rogue One features a nod to the old ForceCast, a cooking segment with Steve Glosson for some cereal recipes, then they discuss Rogue One. They compare the 2D experience to the 3D experience, share their observations and opinions, talk about the lines left out and a whole lot more. Good discussion.

The Nerd Room: Episode 53 covers Rogue One and touches on Catalyst a little as they talk about the impact the book has on the film. They touch on different aspects as they go through the movie scene-by-scene with a fairly comprehensive discussion. There are two hosts and they’ve got excellent audio quality and a very professional sound, however they also have a fast tempo which was just a little too fast paced for my liking. If you don’t mind a fast paced discussion, be sure to check them out.

The Sandcrawler: Episode 12 covers their thoughts on Rogue One as they share their observations and criticisms. Good stuff and they keep it fun.

The Skyhoppers Podcast: Episode XVIII is hosted by Ben and Ash as they talk Rogue One complete with spoilers. They loved it, which leads to a nice, upbeat discussion of favorite moments, Rebels cameos, and a thorough rundown of the characters. The episode has good audio quality and good hosts which certainly has me interested in listening to more episodes.
