Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review. And remember, we’re always looking for more Star Wars podcasts to check out so feel free to send us a link to one you want reviewed.

Awards Chatter: Chris Pine episode is a superb interview with the actor whose roles range from a Disney prince to Kirk in Star Trek. Chris talks about the long road that led to acting, the parts he’s gone through, the roles he looks for, and why went with some of the roles he’s done. They also focus on his latest movie, Hell or Highwater and what that was like. Great episode.

Blast Points: Episode 50 is all about The Phantom Menace. No news, to pre-show warm up, just straight to all the goodness of TPM. They recall opening night, they go through most of the key scenes of the movie, and share lots of love. Truly a great episode and a shining example of what they do best. Blast Points enjoys Star Wars for all its ridiculousness and awesome moments, loving them equally and sharing the fun. This one earns my pick of the week.

Blast Points: Episode 51 begins with some discussion of Kathleen Kennedy’s statements on what will come after Episode IX, the Boba Fett teaser trailer that never happened, Amelia Clarke joining the Han Solo cast, the Japanese Rogue One trailer, digital Wedge, and the opening title theme. Then they get into their main topic – Catalyst. They talk about James Luceno’s novel and provide some great observations like the nanny droid being a nod to another popular nanny, the ties to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, was the Death Star 2 the Separatist version, Poggle the Lesser, and more. Great episode that doesn’t really spoil too much.

Blast Points: Episode 52 is their Star Wars Holiday Special commentary. Yes, a full commentary for the entire television special. In fact they left the audio in so you can hear it in the background and follow along. Whether you’ve seen it or not, it’s a fun episode to listen to.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 97 goes into filthy cranberries, open face turkey sandwiches, a Star Wars Rebels review, they open up the Ki-Adi-Mundi concept figure, the Funko Pop Smuggler’s Bounty Box and they go over EW’s Rogue One pics and news. Fun episode.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 98 begins with cognac, salad spinners and Star Wars. They talk about buying Rogue One tickets, what they had for Thanksgiving, best places to eat in Boston and much more. Fun episode as always.

Brews and Blasters: Tyler Westhause Special features Joe and Tyler Westhause (the RFR intern) as they talk Caddyshack, millennials, Christmas films, Tyler’s entry point into Star Wars, collecting, favorite Star Wars characters, Donald Glover, Vader’s look and more. Fun episode and a change up from the usual.

Comics With Kenobi: Episode 25 reviews Han Solo #5, Star Wars #25, Star Wars Annual #2, Poe Dameron #8, The Force Awakens #5 and #6. It’s a jam packed episode.

Databank Brawl: Episode 28 is a tongue twister as Teebo the Ewok faces off against Teedo the Teedo (the alien on the Luggabeast in The Force Awakens). There’s violence, humor and impersonations as this little rumble gets underway on none other than Cloud City. This leads to a cameo by Lobot and Lando and a controversial end to the conflict, but another fun episode.

Fauxthentic History: The Tale of Beren and Lúthien – Part 2 completes their coverage of the Lord of the Rings tale. If you listened to Part 1, you’ll definitely want to hear the end. Nice entertaining episode touching on a topic I was not familiar with but within a fandom that I was familiar with.

Great Big Beautiful Podcast: Episode 98 features a great interview with author and comic writer Joe Hill. Joe shares some awesome stories about his dad, Stephen King, he talks about growing up with two parents who were both writers, how he got into writing, his break into comics, and his thoughts on being a writer.

Rebel Yell: Iron Squadron and The Wynkahthu Job features Steve, Erich and Shazbazzar as they review the two episodes of Star Wars Rebels. They have some fun with Iron Maiden and Thrawn, speculate whether Wynkahthu is “Why Thank You,” and eventually Teresa joins in for more highlights, hilarity, observations and Snoke jokes. Great episode.

Star Wars Oxygen: Volume 37 covers listener feedback, thoughts on Rogue One and Giacchino, and an excellent discussion on temp music, Marvel scores and why the themes can be forgettable.

Tarkin’s Top Shelf: Ahsoka Novel Discussion covers the book with an emphasis on the characters and themes instead of a plot point by plot point break down. Good episode to check out whether you’ve read the book or not.

Tarkin’s Top Shelf: Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel episode covers the book but without too many spoilers. Mostly they focus on the characters and the themes rather than the plot which makes for an excellent discussion. Good episode.
