Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Blast Points: Episode 37 talks about the podcast Daisy Ridley did, the Ep. VIII title, Rogue One news, magazine pics, listener feedback and their main discussion focuses on Lobot. Fun episode.

Blast Points: Episode 38 starts with some discussion of Ep. VIII news, a Yoda puppet rumor, the newly revealed Rogue One toys, the synopsis for Catalyst, and a tidbit on Mon Calamari. Then they head into their main discussion dealing with Genndy Tartakovsky’s 2003 Clone Wars micro series. They talk about the characters, the episodes, and the similarities and differences with TCW. Fun stuff with great observations. Definitely worth a listen.

Brews and Blasters: Episode 86 begins with some drinking tales which leads to whales and whiskey. For long time listeners, it’s no surprise, as this is the kind of thing that makes Brews and Blasters stand apart and so appealing. Joe and Chris have fun no matter what way the discussion is going, and it always comes back to Star Wars. In this one, they bring it around for a look at all the cool new Rogue One toys that have been revealed. Great episode.

Coffee With Kenobi: Share The Force! episode covers the Target commercial Dan was in. Dan talks with Cory about the experience, then later in the episode, Dan talks with each of the fans who were also in the commercial. Good episode. Very interesting.

Comics With Kenobi: Issue #22 is plagued with some technical difficulties as Matt’s mic keeps going wonky. It really hurts the episode, but if you can struggle through it, there is some good discussion between the mic flare ups. The sound issues get a little worse as the episode goes on, but they do manage to review Star Wars #22, The Force Awakens #3, Han Solo #3, Poe Dameron #5 and Darth Vader #24. Hopefully they can get the mic issue fixed before the next episode.

Fly Casual: Episode 104 touches on Gene Wilder, Kenny Baker and Michael Leader’s passing, Anthony Daniels’ comments, and they dig into the toy report with all the new Rogue One product info. Entertaining episode as always.

ForceCenter: Episode 25 starts with news then heads into their main discussion about droids. They talk about R2-D2 and C-3PO, then venture on to other droids in both the films and the rest of the Star Wars universe. Good episode with lots of fun discussion.

Full of Sith: Making Fandom More Welcoming is the audio from Amy and Bryan’s panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe. It’s an interesting one with a very heavy prequel focus and a lot of discussion about fandom.

Full of Sith: Episode CLXXXI is a normal episode hosted by Mike, Bryan and Amy as they focus on the dark side, which makes for a very fun topic. They get into some good stuff in this episode. Definitely put this one on your playlist.

Full of Sith: Live From Salt Lake City Comic Con is the audio from their live panel at the con. This time Mike, Amy and Bryan were all able to be live and in person at the panel and the audio turned out great. They take questions from the audience and delve into a bunch of fun discussions. Thirty three minutes in, voice actor James Arnold Taylor drops in and they talk a little Obi-Wan. Great episode.

Hangin’ With Team Kanan: Episode 18 starts with some news discussion as they talk about recent Star Wars Rebels news coming out of Dragon*Con and some Rogue One news coming out of Salt Lake Comic Con. Then they talk about the Star Wars Rebels Season 2 release, their favorite episodes and Rogue Friday. Fun episode and only 30 minutes long so a good one to sneak in when you’re short on time.

Jedi Alliance: Episode 102 features host Mark Donica and, as a special guest co-host, his wife. First up, he asks her some fun Star Wars questions, then they get into some toy news like the Hasbro Stormtrooper helmet and the Death Trooper, Casian and Jyn Nerf guns. They touch on some PAX West news, Natalie Portman’s comments on Jimmy Kimmel, Thrawn and Star Wars Rebels, then they head into their main discussion – romance and marriage in Star Wars. They touch on characters from both the books and films for a fun discussion. The episode had really great audio quality, great hosts, and a nice format. I’m definitely going to bump this podcast up into my normal rotation if their other episodes are on par with this one.

Jedi Journals: September 2016 episode includes some thoughts on changing the release time of their reviews, the usual lit purchases, upcoming releases, plus some info on a Sebastian Shaw bio book and some tips on bagging magazines.

Lattes With Leia: Episode #8 starts with a little Star Wars Celebration Europe discussion as Amy talks about her experience there, then Andrea shares her cosplay experience at San Diego Comic Con. Afterwards they dive into their main topic, “the best of.” The talk about the best vehicles, creatures, aliens, hair, etc. It makes for a fun discussion with lots of topics. Good episode.

Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode #0006 tackles a young fan’s comment that Star Wars feels dead because we’re all just waiting. This, of course, leads to a quick reality check as Tim, the host, talks about the dark times and what waiting is really like. Good episode. Quick and on point.

Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode #0007 features guest Allen Voivod, the host of the daily Star Wars podcast Star Wars 7×7. As usual, a quick but fun interview. I’d certainly like to hear more from Allen as this little episode just gets you hooked into wanting to hear more.

Less Than 12 Parsecs: Episode #0008 features 10 questions with Allen Voivod. With ten random yet fun Star Wars questions packed into a little three minute episode, this one is a lot of fun. When combined with the previous episode, it rounds out the guest interview and makes the experience feel more complete.

Rebel Force Radio: Episode 9.2.2016 celebrates 10 years of podcasting. Jimmy and Jason are joined by Pete Nadel as they talk about how it all began, what the podcast has accomplished, and they share some fun stories. It makes for a different kind of episode than usual, and it hit the spot.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode #134 starts with news, then they have on guest Rob Dehlinger as they talk about their podcast soundtrack Awesome Jingle Mix, Vol. 1 which is available now. Then guest Randy Crane joins them to talk about their upcoming Disney Wonder Podcast Cruise with some tips and info about the cruise and the possibility of a Halloween theme. They also talk comics, they share another Skywalker story from one of their listeners which involve arm wrestling Jango Fett, and they talk with Jawa James about Wear Star Wars Every Day 2016. Fun episode.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 795 is the 1st part of three episodes covering Star Wars Year By Year: A Visual History – Updated and Expanded. This episode covers the first era of the book, 1914 to 1983, giving an overview of the format of the book and an idea of what it covers in regards to the time before Star Wars. It’s a nice tease to catch your interest.

Star Wars 7×7: Episode 796 is the 2nd part of three episodes covering Star Wars Year By Year. This time Allen covers the ramp up to The Phantom Menace, 1984 to 2005. Fun episode giving listeners a better idea of what the book is like.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode #60 was a very hard one to listen to as I kept running into issues trying to download it, even when trying from different sources. I wound up just streaming it in iTunes and I had to keep hitting play every five minutes as it kept stopping. Regardless of all those difficulties I ran into, this was a good episode. Teresa wasn’t on, but Aaron had on Bria to help co-host the episode as they talked about Dragon*Con, Thrawn and they had a full on spoiler discussion for Alexander Freed’s novel Twilight Company.

Talk Star Wars: Episode 39 starts with various things that are going on, they talk about the Star Wars Commonwealth podcast alliance, then they break into their usual discussions fueled by listener feedback. Topics range from TPM being better than TFA, the Rogue One toy video, clones, Luke, vision/flashbacks, and what “The Force Awakens” means. They also touch on news, dive into the new Rogue One magazine pics, and after the show credits they share a little story the exemplifies how Disney goes the extra mile for fans. Great episode.

Western Reaches: Episode #12 features Megan, Saf and guest co-host Brian as they cover what they’re reading, what they’re playing, and the main topic, No Man’s Sky. They talk about what the game has to offer and it’s shortcomings.
