Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Assembly of Geeks: Kid Friendly Deadpool & Legendary Hawkgirl covers the passing of Alan Rickman, one parent’s crusade to tame Deadpool, and a nice interview with the actress who is playing Hawkgirl in Legends of Tomorrow.

Brews and Blasters: Episode #52 brings up an interesting question – when is The Force Awakens leaving IMAX? They also talk about toy collecting, maps, wild fan theories, they share some Natalie Portman stories, and it’s another wide ranging, free flowing discussion revolving around Star Wars. Fun episode.

Collectors Cast: Episode 59 includes coverage of Farthest From 10 as Mark talks with Richard Hutchinson about it. Then Mark and James talk about the Rey/Monopoly/Hasbro issue with some surprising defense for Hasbro. They also stick up for the Academy Awards and the show wraps up with a nice chat with Steve Sansweet.

Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode #28 zeroes in on a couple topics including the state of hard to find Rey merchandize, the music of The Force Awakens, and another character discussion on Rey, who’s certainly deserving of it. It’s a Rey heavy episode, and seeing how she’s my favorite character in the new movie, I thoroughly loved it.

Far Far Away Radio: Episode 301 is their Rey discussion as they devote an hour and a half to Rey. They talk about the many aspects of her character and her role in The Force Awakens. It’s a good episode and worth checking out if you’re a Rey fan.

Geek Out Loud/The Big Honkin Show: Episode 169 is a mash up show as Steve mashes together Geek Out Loud and The Big Honkin Show. Steve talks a little about Topps cards before moving into The Force Awakens. He covers Han’s skill as a smuggler, tackles some listener emails covering Rey’s lineage, Snoke’s identity and more. After the break, Steve breaks into non-Star Wars stuff from a funny-but-true Walmart story to Captain Higgins trying to redeem a lost soul by talking him into jail. Fun episode.

Great Big Beautiful Podcast: Episode 45 starts out with some intro stuff, then transitions into an interview with Star Wars author Daniel Wallace as they talk about writing and getting projects. Then they talk with Star Wars author Tricia Barr about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey merchandize, Rey’s heritage, and her work on Ultimate Star Wars. Both interviews are fun and have great audio quality. Worth a listen.

Jedi Journals: The Force Awakens Microcast covers not only the movie, but the books and comics tying into the film as well. If you haven’t read all the tie-in material yet, there’s nothing you really need to worry about spoiler wise. Good episode for fans of the show.

Jedi Journals: January 2016 episode features guest Kyle Newman as they all talk Star Wars books, comics and magazines. Kyle shares his thoughts on some of the recent Star Wars lit, what he did and didn’t like, and they cover the usual news and upcoming/new releases.

My Star Wars Story: The Force Awakens Commentary takes a break from the usual fan stories as Scott Ryfun and Steve Glosson provide a film commentary for The Force Awakens. While Rebel Force Radio did beat them to the punch, I have to admit that Scott and Steve did a better commentary. They talk about the wipes, the cast chemistry, provide excellent scene-by-scene coverage and insightful observations. It’s a fun listen and would be a great one to watch the movie to.

Rebel Force Radio: Episode 1.22.2016 dives into the new trailer for Star Wars Rebels Season 2. They cover Adam Driver’s appearance on Saturday Night Live and even talk with Tom Spina who was responsible for watching over the Kylo Ren costumed which was actually used for the skit. They talk with Tom for a bit about The Force Awakens, his thoughts on the creatures, the goof around about foam and consider the best way to replace the foam for the old Kenner Death Star playset. Then they talk with Evie Olson from the Lossano and Friends show about her fandom and relationship with Star Wars. Afterwards, they wrap things up with listener emails. Good show.

Rock Out Loud: David Bowie Remembered starts with their reactions to finding out the news of Bowie’s passing. They talk a little about The Force Awakens now that Kristin has seen it, and Steve buys tickets to a Bruce Springsteen concert which wraps up their pre-show ramble as they head into the main topic, Kristin’s top David Bowie songs. Even though I’m not a fan of David Bowie’s music, it’s a good episode as they don’t just talk about his music, but about him and his legacy.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode #108 covers their runDisney Star Wars half marathon experience as they talk with two guests. First up is Russ Flores, the author of Seen, Unseen Disneyland, who talks about some of the behind the scenes areas they were able to see while running the marathon. Then they talk with Amanda Bond who ran into the balloon ladies and discusses some strategies and things to keep in mind in order to finish the marathons. Afterwards they switch gears to fashion as they talk with Katie Elhoffer about Star Wars clothing and the intricacies of designing clothing. Great guests and a great episode all around.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode #51 start off with a little Funko discussion, some books news, and then their review of Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath. The give their overall opinions on the book, their thoughts on the interludes, some of the main characters, it’s ties–or lack there of–to The Force Awakens, and how it compares to Lost Stars. They stay pretty light on spoilers so if you haven’t read the book yet, you can safely check this one out without having to worry about it ruining anything.

Star Wars Report: Episode #205 features guest Chris Taylor as he and Riley talk Star Wars, the movies being George Lucas’ children, The Force Awakens and expectations. There’s some intriguing topics which make for good discussion.
