Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
The 602 Club: Episode S12 covers the ebook novella The Perfect Weapon by Delilah S. Dawson. This one does delve into fun spoilers, but it’s an excellent discussion for those who have already read the story. They dive into the characters, the story elements, a possible Kylo Ren connection, what’s in the box, and an interesting parallel between Bazine and the Jedi.
Brews and Blasters: Episode #46 features a fansite group interview with Star Wars Rebels voice actress Vanessa Marshall. It’s a fun interview and worth a listen.
Coffee With Kenobi: Walt Disney World Meet Up episode takes place at Disney World as Dan, Aaron and Sandra talk about Star Wars with fellow fans, announce that Aaron will be taking over Rebels Reactions, and they do the five questions. It’s fun with fans and a nice listen. Afterwards they also have an interview with voice actress Ashley Eckstein which is a great way to cap off the episode.
Coffee With Kenobi: Book Chat with Dr. Travis Langley covers his new book Star Wars Psychology: Dark Side of the Mind. They talk about Star Wars and psychology, bring up an interesting parallel between droids and real world prejudice, and touch on the disconnect with Anakin and reality. Intriguing episode and discussion.
Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode 26 covers Season of the Force, audio clips of the Star Wars global press conference, discussion of Star Wars Rebels, Her Universe stuff, news, and a conversation with Dr. Andrea Letamendi. Plus, they have their own website now!
Full of Sith: Episode CXLIII is their mailbox episode, but don’t let that deter you as it spawns a lot of great discussion. They cover pivotal moments, midichlorians, as well as press events and a Star Wars Rebels episode review. Great episode as always.
Full of Sith: Episode CXLIV features Amy and Bryan at Disneyland as they cover Season of the Force. They also talk about the global press conference with full audio of both halves with mild spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (ie. a couple character who are/aren’t in the film, and who won’t be dying).
Great Big Beautiful Podcast: Episode 39 features a nice interview with Star Wars author Claudia Gray covering her recent book Lost Stars. They talk about how the project came about, what the pitch was, her work in fanfic, her upcoming book Star Wars: Bloodlines, and her new original book which is a cross between Interstellar and Blade Runner. She also reveals why she writes under a pen name. There interview is pretty much spoiler free so if you haven’t read Lost Stars you can still tune in and listen.
Jedi Journals: December 2015 episode covers the rarest Star Wars comic ever, and all the usual Star Wars lit news with upcoming books, comics and magazines. Lot of magazine coverage in this one with all the Star Wars: The Force Awakens attention.
Rebel Force Radio: Episode 12.11.2015 covers why they’re not going to press screenings, the global press conference with audio clips and commentary, interview with Famous Monsters magazine editor David Weiner covering his interview with Mark Hamill, and more on the AT&T UVerse Buzz STAR WARS Celebration special which is now available online.
Rebell Yell: Wings of the Master covers the episode from Star Wars Rebels with lots of ship talk as they delve into B-Wings and beyond.
Rebell Yell: Blood Sisters and Stealth Strike starts with a long intro as they cover Star Wars Card Trader, toy talk, the Goliverse Teepublic store, Season of the Force, Inside Out, Vader and redemption. Then they dive into two Star Wars Rebels episodes, “Blood Sisters” and “Stealth Strike.” Great episode with a double dose of Star Wars and lots of fun discussion. Still my favorite podcast for Star Wars Rebels episode discussions.
Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 103 has Lining Up for Star Wars coverage as they podcast from the line. They talk with Obi-Shawn, discuss their move from Shotglass Digital to Retrozap, and cover the Star Wars global press conference with audio clips and a full rundown with a handy heads up about possible spoilers. They also talk with a guy about Star Wars ice cream. Afterwards they talk with Eric Geller, and fair warning, when you hear the spoiler warning, Eric drops some of the spoilers they warned about earlier in the show. So if you want to avoid them prior to seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, skip two minutes.
Star Wars Oxygen: Volume 24 features an insightful interview with Star Wars: Battlefront composer Gordy Haab. They get into orchestration, composing, influence, and feature some soundclips of the music from the game. Good stuff.
