Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Coffee With Kenobi: Coffee Chat with James Arnold Taylor is a fun one as James talks about Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, The Comlink, Star Wars Weekends, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Cory and Dan present just the right atmosphere which results a in a very casual and entertaining conversation with James. A great episode for your Star Wars playlist.

Special Edition: Indiana Comic Con includes a lot of guests as they talked to multiple people at the convention including Princess Leia comic writer Mark Waid, blogger Amy Ratcliffe and more. They talk about their experiences at the con, and share their stories about meeting Carrie Fisher. And speaking of Carrie Fisher, afterwards they have the audio of her panel.

Dead Talks: The Walking Dead season finale has already aired, but I’m still catching up with the podcast. In Episode #36 they cover “Spend”, tackle how Rick’s group might be a bad influence for the people of Alexandria, Carol’s evolution as a character, Abraham finding his place in the community, and the horror Glen witnesses. Quite simply, I love this podcast. I can’t believe how much my Walking Dead fandom was missing out on.

Full of Sith: Episode CVI includes several interviews that should keep Star Wars fans entertained. First up, they speak with Darren Hayes who talks about Star Wars, diversity issues, and his podcast He Said He Said. Then they have Leigh George Kade on to speculate about Rogue One and how they might use that for a Rogue Squadron movie. Last, but not least, Mike talks one-on-one with artist Kevin Liell who shares some Star Wars stories, talks about going to the last Star Wars Celebration Europe over in Germany, designing Star Wars jewelry for Norse Legion, and doing the trivia events at past Celebrations. It’s a really cool interview to round out the episode and makes this one a great one to check out.

Episode CVII starts out with a discussion on Topps Star Wars digital card trading game covering how it works and how addictive it can be. Then they head into some Star Wars news before cutting over into an interview snippet with actor Bruce Campbell who’s Star Wars comments generate a discussion on the special editions. Wrapping things up, Amy Ratcliffe talks a little bit about her trip to Indian Comic Con and her experience meeting Carrie Fisher. Great show!

My Star Wars Story: Episode 8 features Andrew Leyland, co-host of Hey Kids, Comics Podcast and Palace of Glittering Delights. Andrew’s Star Wars story adds some variety in that he’s from the UK so he’s able to enlighten listeners on what the Star Wars experience was like overseas. Also changing things up, Andrew’s fandom is largely spun off of his love for the comics rather than the toys. He talks about reading the comics before seeing the movies, how The Empire Strikes Back was his first Star Wars film, and what his expectations were like for each. They cover the Zahn novels, the Dark Empire comics, the special editions and the prequels. One cool tidbit from the interview was Andrew’s comment about how viewers in England all recognized the British actors, many of whom played parts in television kids shows. Very cool insight. There’s also some extra audio after the credits, so you can stick around for that.

RebelForce Radio: Episode 3.27.2015 is hosted by Jimmy Mac and Steve Glosson and kicks off with guest Stephen Stanton as he reveals some big news. All of the semi-finalists for RebelForce Radio’s Celebration contest are now getting tickets to the con. Afterwards artist Randy Martinez comes on to talk about Star Wars and Celebration Anaheim. They break to touch on the Star Wars book news for this Fall, then finish with an interview with Phil LaMarr who talks about Pulp Fiction, MADtv, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Definitely a show you’ll want to check out. I had no idea Phil was Marvin in Pulp Fiction.

Rock Out Loud:Women of Rock” episode covers some classic female rockers as well as some new ones. But first they hit the listener feedback and dig into a discussion on the transition from 80’s music to the 90’s era. Afterwards they jump into their female rockers playlist which includes artists like Hole, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, Heart, Paramore and more. Liked the inclusion of The Pretty Reckless as have a few of their songs in my own music library. However I had never heard of The Sounds before and their tune “Song With A Mission” really caught my interest. Love the guitar riff. As always, if you’re looking for a music podcast, this is a good one to check out.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 71 reveals something I hadn’t heard until listening–John Williams will be recording the music for The Force Awakens in LA instead of London. Later they talk with Russell Flores about his book Seen, Un-Seen Disneyland which covers overlooked parts of the park and the history behind them. It’s an intriguing convo and certainly piqued my interest in his book. Afterwards they go over some more Star Wars Celebration tips like expanding poster tubes, they share some letters with Margarett Kerry, then ends things with an excellent conversation with Star Wars artist Randy Martinez and his girlfriend Denise Vasquez. Denise mentions a secret project for Star Wars Celebration, they talk about what they’ll be bringing to the con, what they’ll be doing, and the open mic night on Monday at Paladinos that fans might want to check out.
