Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Bombad Radio: Episode 182 starts out with Jeremiah and Zach talking about tv shows and Nobility. Then they break to their interview with Adrienne Wilkinson who talks about Xena: Warrior Princess, The Force Unleashed, voice work, acting, and Sam Witwer’s impressive knowledge of Star Wars. It’s a nice interview with some good behind-the-scenes looks at various shows and Star Wars projects.

Coffee With Kenobi: Show #29 is a look back at 2014 with special guest Rob Wainfur (The Bearded Trio). Together they recap their year in Star Wars, their guests, interviews and major events of the year. If you’ve missed any episodes, this is a great way to find out what you need to go back and listen to.

Full of Sith: Episode XCVIII Bobby, Bryan and Amy share what they’ve been up to, before Bobby moves things along to a variety of topics, keeping the pace moving, and the discussion flowing. They touch on Gary Whitta leaving the Star Wars standalone movie, their thoughts on Star Wars Rebels “Path of the Jedi”, the fates of Kanan and Ezra, who Fulcrum might be (Leia or Ahsoka?), whether Kanan is really a Jedi cowboy, whether Hera has been pushed to the side, the impact of Yoda, new The Force Awakens casting leaks, the actors from The Raid, and movie posters. Great episode covering a lot of ground. A nice burst of Star Wars.

Dinner 4 Geeks: Episode 91 is my introduction to this podcast. I heard Scott on an episode of Geek Out Loud and decided to try it out, as I really enjoyed his discussion with Steve Glosson. The results were kinda mixed. The premise is a handful of guys go out to eat and record a podcast while at a restaurant covering geeky topics and not so geeky topics. I was a little off put by how much of the discussion was the guys trying to get a rise out of each other, but when they were talking about more interesting stuff, they covered Doctor Who and The Force Awakens parody trailers. There’s a lot of off color humor and adult material. As my first introduction to the podcast, it wasn’t the best way to start off.

Episode 87 is a bit better. Steve Glosson joins them, and adding Steve to your podcast is always a surefire way to kick things up. They talk football, movie trailers, The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and some Pan movie that’s coming out. About halfway through, I really found myself enjoying the podcast, especially the sing alongs and muppet impersonations. This one was fun, so I might have to check out a couple more.

Geek Out Loud: Episode 116 features guest Scott Ryfun (Dinner 4 Geeks, My Star Wars Story) as they talk conventions, muppets, the Secret Wars comics, Marvel and even Dollywood. Very fun and entertaining show. Probably the geekiest thing I’ve ever listened to. Loved it. Really, worth checking out even if you’re not that into Marvel comics and have never heard of Secret Wars.

Jedi Journals: January 2015 has the usual rundown on Star Wars books, comics and magazines. For those heading to Barnes & Noble, be sure to keep your eyes open in the discount section for a hardcover version of The New Essential Guide to Droids and The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology. They talk about the Star Wars Marvel variants, some behind-the-scenes art for Asajj and Quinlan Vos on StarWars.com, and how many Star Wars books will be getting the Legends banner. The episode seemed a little short (running at 42 minutes) and mostly covers stuff coming out this month.

Radio 1138: Episode 23 starts out with some collecting toys for charity, then touches lightly on Kevin Hearne’s Heir to the Jedi novel (which won’t be out in the US until March 3), whether Star Wars standalone news will be coming out later this month, the announcement of the prequels in 3D at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, Shadow Troopers being in canon, the second part of their Anthony Daniels interview which touches on some cool topics, their thoughts on the impending full trailer for The Force Awakens and the myriad array of Marvel Star Wars variant covers. Lot of quick topics covering a lot of ground. Good episode all around, and definitely worth listening to. I especially enjoyed the Anthony Daniels interview.

RebelForce Radio: Episode 1.9.2015 features Jason and Jimmy as they talk about blowing up the Death Star for New Years, Star Wars holiday gifts, their recent Revenge of the Sith commentary with Sam Witwer and David Collins before diving into some news and rumors. They cover The Raid trio and the possibility of Daniel Craig being in The Force Awakens, Andy Serkis’ recent interview with EW, Kyle Newman and F.J. DeSanto talk about “Smuggler’s Bounty”, and much more.

Rebels Declassified:Path of the Jedi” features Jason, Jimmy, Kyle Newman and F.J. DeSanto as they work their way around to the episode at hand. Once they do get on topic, they cover Jedi temples, dead Jedi, Frank Oz as Yoda, the Nightmare On Elm Street vibe of the episode, and the source of the lightsaber crystal. Off topic, they discuss rumors of Force ghosts Luke might be talking to in The Force Awakens and a few other topics.

Rebels Report:Path of the Jedi” features Pete, Andy and Kale as they talk about Kanan’s holocron, the Jedi master-apprentice relationship, Jedi training, Force nexus locations, the age of the Jedi temple on Lothal and the dead Jedi there, as well as hearing Frank Oz as Yoda again. Lots of on-topic discussion probing the aspects of the episode and the deeper meaning of the events that unfolded.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 61 starts out with their countdowns, from the Disney Star Wars half marathon to Star Wars Celebration Anaheim and the announcement that all three prequel films will be shown their in 3D. They also talk about Disneyland discounts for those going to Celebration, Star Wars Weekends, and The Force Unleashed which rounds out their countdown for 2015. Afterwards they cover the top ten most checked in places on Facebook, their New Years Eve trip to Disneyland, and Michelle Young reports on Disney’s Frozen Fun and all the Frozen theme events and attractions. From there, they talk about past Celebrations and conventions. They’re joined by Jeff Roney and they go through the rest of the George Lucas Q&A from the Star Wars 10th anniversary convention back in 1987. That and more, including an AC/DC reference which always makes my ears perk up (bonus points for that one). Lots of fun as always with plenty of Star Wars topics to satisfy fans.
