Book News
- Darth Vader and Friends by Jeffrey Brown is now up for preorder on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
- Author Paul S. Kemp shared a little snippet about his upcoming Star Wars novel Lords of the Sith.
We’re three months from this.
I was thinking about the book today and trying to articulate the way that I thought about Vader throughout the writing. In the end, I think I had two touchstones.
First (and I wrote this in all-caps at the top of the blank page when I first starting writing the book): VADER IS ALWAYS MENACING! ALWAYS!
Second, I kept in mind that Vader is a monster. Perhaps an understandable monster, but a monster nevertheless.
Anyway, can’t wait for this to hit so you can read it for yourselves.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Coffee With Kenobi: Book Chat with Jordan D. White, Marvel’s Star Wars editor, dives into how he got the gig, his enthusiasm for the project, working with the story group, what lines they have coming out, and how they’re approaching them. It’s a great interview and definitely worth catching.
Rebels Reactions – “Path of the Jedi” features guest Tom Gross (Star Wars in the Classroom) as talk about the episode of Star Wars Rebels. I really liked how they covered the symbolism in the episode which certainly set it apart from other reviews.
Show #30 starts out with a nice conversation with Lillian Skye who talks about her fandom, writing a college paper on the impact of Star Wars, and working for Star Wars Underworld. The Bearded Trio mentions that there will be a new Jurassic World trailer during the Super Bowl. Then the show heads into an interview with Mark Bellomo, the author of The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Star Wars Action Figures, 1977-1985. Mark talks about vintage Kenner Star Wars figures, vehicles and playsets, the challenge of including prices, the difficulty of deciding what to include and what not to include, his choice of narrative and using the Expanded Universe, his previous works and the extent of his collection, as well as his overall passion for Star Wars and collecting. Really a great interview and well worth listening to as I’ve seen his book out there but I didn’t know anything about the author, which always makes me skeptical about picking up the book. Now, having heard the interview and learning who Mark is, I’m definitely going to check out his book. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Maul: Lockdown by Joe Schreiber is out today in mass market paperback.
Set before the events of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, this new novel is a thrilling follow-up to Star Wars: Darth Plagueis.
It’s kill or be killed in the space penitentiary that houses the galaxy’s worst criminals, where convicts face off in gladiatorial combat while an underworld gambling empire reaps the profits of the illicit blood sport. But the newest contender in this savage arena, as demonic to behold as he is deadly to challenge, is fighting for more than just survival. His do-or-die mission, for the dark masters he serves, is to capture the ultimate weapon: an object that will enable the Sith to conquer the galaxy.
Sith lords Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious are determined to possess the prize. And one of the power-hungry duo has his own treacherous plans for it. But first, their fearsome apprentice must take on a bloodthirsty prison warden, a cannibal gang, cutthroat crime lord Jabba the Hutt, and an unspeakable alien horror. No one else could brave such a gauntlet of death and live. But no one else is the dreaded dark-side disciple known as Darth Maul.

Book News
- Cover reveal for Jeffrey Brown’s next Star Wars book The Phantom Bully.
Award-winning author/illustrator Jeffrey Brown returns for the third installation of the NEW YORK TIMES bestselling series Star Wars: Jedi Academy!
It’s hard to believe this is Roan’s last year at Jedi Academy. He’s been busier than ever learning to fly (and wash) starships, swimming in the Lake Country on Naboo, studying for the Jedi obstacle course exam, and tracking down dozens of vorpak clones — don’t ask. But now, someone is setting him up to get in trouble with everyone at school, including Yoda. If he doesn’t find out who it is, and fast, he may get kicked out of school! Why can’t middle school just be easy. . .
This incredible, original story captures all of the humor, awkwardness, fun, and frustrations of middle school — all told through one boy’s comics, journal entries, letters, sketches, e-mails, and more.
