Happy Birthday, Alan Dean Foster

Today we wish a happy birthday to the first Star Wars author, Alan Dean Foster. Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker (aka the Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope novelization) may not bear his name, as it was ghost written and still says by George Lucas, but he still gets the credit. And as if being first wasn’t good enough, he was also second with Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, which to this day is still one of the weirdest Star Wars novels out there with Luke’s creepy love interest in Leia, a swamp planet intended as a cheap way to make a sequel movie, and a giant worm that tries to eat everyone. If there’s one book truly worthy of being placed under the Legends banner, it would be that one.
