Jabba the Hutt is one of my favorite Star Wars characters, and Hasbro has done a pretty good job at capturing the galactic gangster in all his slug-like beauty. Thus we present a toy review of the Hasbro Black Series 6-inch Jabba the Hutt with tons of pictures. Enjoy!

Among the six inch scale Black Series figures, Jabba is fittingly the largest figure in the line so far. He’s 11-1/2 inches long, six inches tall, and 5-1/2 inches wide.

That said, he’s not the most articulate figure. His body is hollow, and there’s no wire in his tail so it can’t be bent around. He can rotate around the waist, and if you rotate either of his arms, his mouth will open a little. Both arms can rotate and have articulation at the shoulder, elbow and wrist.

The paint app for Jabba is pretty good. There’s a nice level of detail with the eyes and the coloring of the head. However the head is made of a different material which causes the coloring of it to be slightly different than the rest of the body.

The head is actually made of a rubber material, while the body is a firmer, latex like material. The arms are a hard plastic. Also note the spots that are dotted around Jabba’s body.

Here you can really see the difference in the coloring between the head and the rest of the body. The head has a duller look, while the body has a glossy shine to it.

One problem with the paint app is that Jabba looks silly if you rotate him. His beige colored belly doesn’t look right when he turns his head.

Here he is facing backwards.

And here he is looking down the length of his tail.

Here is a comparison shot of the Black Series six inch Jabba the Hutt next to a 3-3/4 inch Jabba.

And here he is next to a vintage Kenner Jabba.

Here’s a comparison of Hutts from smallest to biggest.

Now if you opted out of the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Black Series Jabba the Hutt, you can still pick up a hookah for him by getting the 2010 Walmart exclusive Jabba the Hutt Playset which includes dais, hookah, Oola and pillows.

The dais doesn’t work too bad, though his tail hangs off some, but the hookah is perfect.

Here’s a comparison of 3-3/4 inch Greedo next to Jabba on his 3-3/4 inch scale dais.

Once you start adding other Black Series figures, Jabba doesn’t looks as big anymore.

In the end, Jabba really isn’t so much an action figure as he is a set piece. Overall, I’m happy with him, but he definitely could have used some accessories, and I think Hasbro was pretty stupid to only include the accessories with the SDCC exclusive version. Regardless, I’m hoping future waves will include some of Jabba’s entourage. A Bib Fortuna is sorely needed.
