‘Tarkin’ Excerpt #3

Star Wars Books has released a new excerpt for James Luceno’s Tarkin.
“Governor, your presence is required on Coruscant,” Amedda said after a moment. Tarkin moved to his desk and sat down, centering himself for the holocam. “I’ll certainly try to make time for a visit, Vizier.”
“Permit me, Governor, but that will not suffice. Perhaps I should have said that your presence is urgently required.”Tarkin waved a hand in dismissal. “I’m sorry, Vizier, but that doesn’t alter the fact that I have my priorities.”
“Priorities of what sort?”
Tarkin returned Amedda’s mirthless smile. There was probably no harm in sharing with Amedda information about the expected ship¬ments of matériel from Desolation Station to Geonosis—including vital components for the battle station’s complex hyperdrive generator—but he was under no obligation to do so.
“I’m afraid my priorities are on a need-to-know basis.”
“Indeed. Then you are refusing the request?”
Tarkin glimpsed something in the thick-skulled Chagrian’s pink-rimmed cerulean eyes that gave him pause. “Let’s say that I’m reluctant to abandon my post at this time, Vizier. If you wish, I’ll provide the Emperor with my reasons personally.”
“That’s not possible, Governor. The Emperor is presently engaged.”
Tarkin leaned toward the cam. “So engaged that he can’t speak briefly with one of his Moffs?”
Amedda affected a bored tone. “That’s not for me to say, Governor. The Emperor’s concerns are on a need-to-know basis.”

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Assembly of Geeks: “Reviewing Geek TV Shows” is a geek roundtable episode with guests Kay (FANgirl Blog), Emily (Wrong Button Blog) and Cory (Coffee with Kenobi). This episode includes lots of geek questions and discussions, some negativity on Gotham, thoughts and criticism on the new video game Destiny, and thoughts on geek tv shows and movies, especially Marvel and DC. Good episode overall.
“Harry Potter and the Targets of Boba Fett” starts out with a Harry Potter discussion since Scott is watching all the films as they’re being screened at a local theater. They also talk some The Dark Crystal with their special co-host in this episode, Charli Armstrong (who fills in for Tricia). Then they head into an Indiana Jones discussion and the possibility and rumors of an Indy 5. Later they’re joined by Dan Zehr as they talk about Star Wars Rebels.
Bombad Radio: October Free-For-All episode includes host James, and guests Scott Murray and Steve Crellin. As usual in the free-for-all, they cover a lot of topics, but this time around Star Wars stays their main focus. From Christopher Walken going to the dark side to Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Episode VII (include a potential major spoiler which I fast forwarded through). They also go over Gotham and share their thoughts on the series and where it needs to go to maintain interest.
