Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Bombad Radio: Episode 169 is a double interview with voice actresses Belinda Cornish and Alix Wilton Regan. They talk Mass Effect, Dragon Age, voice acting and working with video game projects. Both are good interviews and entertaining guests which makes for a fun discussion. Plus I like the new outro music. Very nice.

Disney Vault Talk: Make Mine Music episode starts out with a lot of listener feedback, their challenge to RebelForce Radio as they throw down the gauntlet to do a Rebels spinoff show, and their “Disney Watch” segment covering various Disney news items. The focus of this weeks episode is the Disney film Make Mine Music which turns out to be a pretty fast discussion as they quickly go through the history and fun facts for the movie and then plow through each of the shorts that comprise the film. I’ve never seen this particular movie, but I have seen a couple of the shorts that are in it. Afterwards they do some post-show Disney trivia.

Full of Sith: Episode LXXXIV includes discussion on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars pre-viz content recently released on StarWars.com. They also talk about Star Wars Rebels “Spark of Rebellion”. There’s some small spoilers but nothing too major. Guests include Riley and Bethany from the Star Wars Report. Interesting episode as I haven’t had a chance to check out the pre-viz arc for TCW, but after hearing their discussion of it, I’m now very intrigued to check it out.

RebelForce Radio: Episode 9.26.14 made my day with an Angus Young reference. But beyond that, they talk about iPhones, play an audio clip from upcoming Star Wars director Rian Johnson, talk about the Abrams/Snyder rivalry and the Falcon/Batman video, and they cover the existence of sweat in Star Wars. F.J. Desanto joins them for an engaging discussion about Qui-Gon Jinn and whether or not Liam Neeson recorded audio for Revenge of the Sith. Lastly, Jimmy Mac shares some Star Wars easter eggs from his radio commercials. Fun episode as always, but this one packed something a little extra that made my day.

Star Wars Action News: Episode 433 has a lot of toy coverage. In fact the whole show is devoted to toys with excellent coverage on Hot Toys jumping into the Star Wars market. They talk about the quality of Hot Toys figures, their previous releases, their relationship with Sideshow, some tips on buying from Hot Toys, and of course they cover the recently revealed Hot Toys Han and Chewbacca. They also share current toy reports from Target, Toys R Us, Walgreens and the Disney Store, and recount their trip to a legendary toy shop in Seattle which was very surprising. Fun episode, very informative, and a great one to check out even if you aren’t a hardcore collector as it’s a good way to stay

Star Wars Rebels Declassified: Series Premier Press Conference includes audio from the Star Wars Rebels “Launch Party” which is definitely worth checking out. Dave Filoni shares some juicy tidbits like showing some episodes to George Lucas, commenting how George has had no involvement in the show, remarking on how they might have made TCW too dark, and that this is a period of hope. Dave goes on to talk about challenging themselves to make something better, balancing adult and child themes, plus the rest of the cast weighs in on the questions.

Star Wars Report: Episode 145 features Riley and Bethany’s discussion of seeing the Star Wars films for the first time on the big screen. Kind of an interesting episode as they talk about the things that stuck out the most and compare the differences of the experience to just seeing it on a tv screen. It all revolves around a screening of A New Hope that was done at a local theater that they attended.

Episode 146 dives into some listener questions, then heads into an interview with Brandy, the director for Dragon Con’s Star Wars track. Afterwards, they have Mitchell Hanan on for some random Star Wars discussion, and Mark talks about his daughter being Fangirl of the Day on Her Universe.

Talking Apes TV: Episode 1 is a new side project by Skywalking Through Neverland. It’s hosted by Richard Woloski and Mark Oguschewitz and is focusing on the old Planet of the Apes tv show. This kickoff episode includes a full rundown on all of the old Planet of the Apes movies with a nice discussion of the themes on subtext threaded into those films. I really enjoyed their coverage of the movies and I’m looking forward to see how they handle the episodes of the tv show. If you enjoyed the films, definitely give this one a listen.
