Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Assembly of Geeks:Star Wars Rebels and Rumors” has a lot of summer movie discussion as they talk about the best and worst summer movies this year. They also get into Avengers 2 and Ms. Marvel news and rumors. Then they talk with Pete Morrison (Rebels Report) to talk Star Wars Rebels. There’s a brief audio sample of their interview with A New Dawn author John Jackson Miller, and a segment with Jeremiah (Bombad Radio) on summer movie thoughts. If you like movies, this is a good episode to check out, though I still cringe every time Scott talks about Godzilla…some of us actually liked that movie ;)

Bonus Points with John Jackson Miller is a special mini episode featuring Scott’s interview with A New Dawn author John Jackson Miller. John talks about being filled in on season one, working with the executive producers, Dave Filoni, what he wanted to show in the book, and more. This is a spoiler free interview so feel free to give it a listen whether you’ve read the book or not.

Full of Sith: Episode LXXXI is a semi-live podcast from Salt Lake Comic Con as Bryan podcasts from there with an audience, and Mike and Bobby skype in. The audio is a little rough but there’s some good discussion and fan questions. Afterwards, Mike and Bobby wrap things up and, as a special treat, Ania joins them for a fun Star War conversation. She definitely steals the show on this one.

Jedi Journals: September 2014 episode has the usual rundown on lit news and acquisitions. They also have an interview with A New Dawn author John Jackson Miller touching on the new canon, the characters, the Empire and more. Nice interview with some good info, it’s worth a listen for book fans.

Radio 1138: Episode 15 includes another interview segment with The Empire Strikes Back director Irvin Kershner, an interview with UK Garrison member Gary Hailes, an interview with Iain Lowson on the Star Wars Fact Files, and an interview with A New Dawn author John Jackson Miller.

RebelForce Radio: Episode 9.5.14 includes their hilarious Death Star toy story, the last “Ankle Gate” update, a discussion on the idea of spoilers, the possibility for novelization spoilers, and the newest member of the Star Wars Episode VII cast. They also talk Star Wars Rebels, the new Ezra clip, an audio clip from Filoni and Kinberg, the use of Indy music in the show, and they revisit the gun turret sound. Afterwards they dive into the Star Wars ALS videos, play a clip of Jamie King on Conan O’Brian, then head into their fifteen minute spoiler segment.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 45 includes an interview with Star Wars author Michael Kogge who talks about Star Wars Rebels, working with the creators, not writing down to kids, and adding a little extra to the novelizations of the episodes. Afterwards they talk Goofy short films and other fun stuff.

Episode 46 covers Frozen news, the Rancho Obi-Wan gala and a Dragon Con report. There’s also a cool interview with fan film creator Lou Klein who talks about Darth Maul and the Star Wars fan films he’s made. Later in the episode, they get into a really fun discussion with Big Bubba about Disney jail. That discussion alone makes the episode worth listening to, but be sure to check out the whole thing.

Star Wars Action News: Episode 432 has a Wizard World report, toy reports on new Star Wars items hitting shelves (hint hint = Walgreens), a review of a bunch of the 3-3/4″ Black Series figures, and Brock’s review of A New Dawn.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode #30 has the audio from their panel at Dragon Con with author Timothy Zahn and Christie Golden covering tropes. They cover good tropes, bad tropes, themes in Star Wars, their writing, unused story ideas, thoughts on Episode VII, and a bunch of fan questions. Christie again mentions her Vestara Joan of Arc idea, and one non answer implies a connection to the Star Wars film creative team. Zahn talks a little about Scoundrels 2 (which won’t happen) and annotating Dark Force Rising and The Last Command (which probably won’t happen either but he’d love to see an eBook version). He’s very adamant about not being involved in the new canon yet as no one has invited him in…yet. Let’s hope that changes, as Star Wars won’t be the same without Zahn.
