SDCC 2014: Television

Warner Bros & DC Entertainment had some reveals about the tv show, Arrow at SDCC.  A third season villain was announced: Ra’s Al Ghul.  The Season three teaser trailer was long on info we already know, and short on new stuff, but we do know Canary will be back, and there will be a new player in town evidently trying to take over Queen Consolidated.  Now if only someone can get Thea to stop whining so much.  And make sense as a character.

As an added bonus, when a fan requested it, Stephen Amell flashed his very nicely ripped abs.

So if you’ve been watching Arrow, you probably know about the spin-off show, The Flash, the first in DC Entertainment’s new series trifecta.  I already knew I was going to give this show a chance, but SDCC brought us a fun teaser trailer that clinched the deal.

There was also news about new series Constantine as fans were assured that DC characters are definitely coming to the show.  As well as Celaya, Papa Midnight and The Newcastle Crew will appear.  If you haven’t caught it, here’s the official NBC trailer for Constantine.

And DC Entertainment’s third new series, Gotham City, also debuted a trailer at SDCC.

DC Entertainment wasn’t the only game in town when it came to television.  20th Century Fox Television’s Sleepy Hollow was also back at SDCC 2014 with the main players, including Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie.  If you’re a Sleepy Hollow follower, you know that pretty much everyone was screwed in the first season finale — except for John Noble’s bad guy character, Jeremy.  Executive producer Kurtzman promised that “whatever you think is coming, isn’t coming”.  We’ve also been promised we’re going to get Ben Franklin and Benedict Arnold in season 2.

Speaking of Nicole Beharie: she was part of the Women Who Kick Ass panel at SDCC.

Marvel TV revealed that Lucy Lawless is joining Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as  SHIELD veteran Isabelle Hartley.  Nick Blood will also be joining the cast as STRIKE member Lance Hunter.  On the HYDRA front, Reed Diamond will be playing HYDRA agent, Daniel Whitehall.  Also if you’ve managed to hang in there for what was surely the longest setup in TV series history, here’s the AoS panel at SDCC.
