‘Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years’

star-wars-the-original-marvel-yearsStarWars.com has revealed that the first Marvel Star Wars comic. now that they’ve once again got the license, will be Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years. Reprinting Marvel Star Wars  #1-44 and Marvel Star Wars Annual #1 in a hardcover omnibus format. Marvel editor in chief Axel Alonso also hints that there will be more to come: “I am extremely proud to present these original Star Wars stories, told as only Marvel can, in the first in a massive and glorious Omnibus series.”

Writers: Roy Thomas, Howard Chaykin, Archie Goodwin, Jo Duffy and Chris Claremont
Pencillers: Howard Chaykin, Carmine Infantino, Walter Simonson, Herb Trimpe, Michael Golden, Al Williamson, and Mike Vosburg

  1. This smacks of the kind of milking I was hoping Disney wouldn’t do when they bought SW. Instead of exciting new content, just reprint the old content and then charge $125 for it.

    Does that sound ridiculous to anyone else?

  2. Eh, from a certain point of view, I can see Marvel doing it for collectors and nostalgia. The thing that worries me is that Marvel’s omnibuses typically run $125 (about $80 to $90 after discount on Amazon). That’s a LOT more expensive that what Dark Horse put out.
