urlWhile it was recently reported by StarWars.com that Gareth Edwards, director of the recent hit Godzilla, will be helming a Star Wars stand-alone movie, it has now been reported that he will be joined in the Star Wars universe by Chronicle’s Josh Trank. Currently directing Fox’s reboot to The Fantastic Four, Trank will helm a second Star Wars movie.

Said Kathleen Kennedy in a statement: “We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family. He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”

“The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time,” Trank said.

Production and planning seem to be in full swing at Lucasfilm, and it’s only a matter of time before just what Trank’s new stand-alone will cover!
