Announced on StarWars.com today, the long rumored Academy Award Winner Lupita Nyong’o and Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie will be joining the cast of Star Wars Episode VII! There have been reports since the initial announcement of the new cast that there were still major roles yet to be filled, and well, it looks like that has now been the case!
Lupita Nyong’o rose to prominence quite recently, with her Oscar win for playing female slave Patsey in the Academy Award winning 12 Years a Slave. The supporting role won her critical acclaim and many award wins. She has since starred in Liam Neeson’s Non-Stop.
Gwendoline Christie currently stars as Brienne of Tarth on HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, where she has recently been upped to regular in the show’s currently airing fourth season, after recurring in the show’s second and third seasons. A breakout character, Christie has been featured very heavily on the show. She’ll be next appearing in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay film adaptation.
This is quite an exciting announcement, next to know: who they’ll be playing! Submit your guesses below!
