Here is this week’s Around the Web news roundup of Star Wars and beyond.

Book News

  • Star Wars artist Grant Gould will be illustrating How to Draw Star Wars Rebels. No word on a release date yet.

Comic News

  • Randy Stradley gave an update on Star Wars trade paperback and omnibus collections over on the Dark Horse forums.

The second Dark Times Omnibus is indeed our final scheduled Omnibus. We will produce trades for all of the current series, but there is not enough time within our remaining license to publish Omnibuses. Dark Horse’s goal, obviously, must be to sell as much of our inventory before our final cut-off date.

There may — and I stress may be one more hardcover book before the end of the year. News about that when I have it.

  • Star Wars comic artist Carlos D’Anda is also working on a piece for the project.

Contests

  • There are around 17 authors involved in this years Crossing the Streams event which is interesting, cooperative book giveaway with over a dozen authors. It’s a fun, easy way to win free books and the authors include: Ari Marmell, Betsy Dornbusch, Darrin Drader, Dave Gross, Erik Scott de Bie, Erin N. Hoffman, Gabrielle Faust, Howard Andrew Jones, James L. Sutter, Jeff Salyards, Joshua Palmatier, Marsheila (Marcy) Rockwell and Jeffrey J. Mariotte, Matt Forbeck, Saranna DeWylde, Wendy N. Wagner, and three of the authors of the Forgotten Realm’s The Sundering Series, Richard Lee Byers, Erin M. Evans and Paul S. Kemp. Each author is running a contest so you’ll have to visit each of them in order to win that author’s books. However, one winner will be chosen from all of those who entered, and that person will win all of the books. Since Paul is the only Star Wars author on the list, and Riptide is one of the books you can win, I’ll direct you over to his site, which also includes links to all the other author’s sites. You have until March 19th to enter.
  • Star Wars Bookworms is holding a book giveaway on Facebook. They’re giving away four copies of Empire and Rebellion: Honor Among Thieves by James S.A. Corey. You have until March 6th to enter.
  • Canadian fans can win a chance to see the premier of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 6 in Toronto. You have until February 24th to enter.
