Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Assembly of Geeks: “The Fangirls Take Over” Episode replaces Admiral 80’s with Teresa Delgado as they talk Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Marvel movies, The Big Bang Theory and more. Lots of fun discussion and great addition to your playlist.
Full of Sith: Episode L covers the little moments of Star Wars as Mike, Bryan and Bobbie talk about the small things that really impact them when they watch the films. From the Ewok warrior crying over his fallen comrade to Luke staring off at the twin sunsets, they cover moments from all of the films.
Episode LI is a Valentine’s themed episode as Mike, Bryan, Bobbie and special guest Amy Ratcliffe discuss who their Star Wars Valentine would be and some of the ways they’ve shared Star Wars with others. Definitely some fun and funny discussions in this one.
Geek Out Loud: Episode 82 features a really nice interview with James Arnold Taylor. Steve Glosson breaks away from typical JAT interviews by pretty much avoiding Star Wars completely and focusing on James’ other work, including his new book JAT 365. If you’re a James Arnold Taylor fan, you’ll want to give this one a listen. The interview starts around 1:09:00. Afterwards, Steve and James do bad impressions theater which is kind of fun. They do the Death Star meeting scene but with Doc Brown, Bane, Fred Flintstone and Bod Dylan.
Know What I’m Saying: Episode 9 has more Karl and Steve goodness as they talk about their holidays, tweeting Star Wars while watching it, listener feedback, and Karl goes off in a weird direction with cuddling under the stars while watching Star Wars in sleeping bags…with Steve. Yeah, Karl is still pushing the bromance thing way too far. Anyways, still a fun podcast.
Star Wars Collectors Cast: Episode 1 kicks off the new iteration of James Burns and Dan Curto’s collecting podcast. In this episode James gives a full report from the UK Toy Fair and the guys talk with Steve Sansweet for their annual chat. The second half of the episode covers just about all of the toys that were revealed an the US Toy Fair. Plenty of info for collectors.
Star Wars Report: Episode 120 features Riley, Mark and Bethany as they talk about rumors, Star Wars Rebels LEGOs, Mara Jade, Chopper and more. Rumor discussion can get crazy, and this episode is no different. Mara Jade Force ghost in Episode VII? They also speculate the possibility of a Star Wars Rebels theater feature and Riley does a terrible Yoda impression :)
The Wampa’s Lair: Episode #75 features an interview that Karl did with Brian Stillman, the creator of “Plastic Galaxy”. It a really nice interview that dives into the old vintage Kenner figures, the making of the documentary, and all the work that went into. Cool to hear about the interviews Brian did with the Kenner toy designers. In fact the interview was so good, it convinced me to pick a copy of “Plastic Galaxy” to check out.
