Here’s this week’s Around the Web news roundup of Star Wars and beyond.

Books

  • John Jackson Miller has a nice roundup of Kenobi reviews, interviews and extras on his website farawaypress.com.
  • Speculate! SF featured guest author Martha Wells.
  • Insite also has a nice writeup on Martha Wells that’s worth checking out.
  • Wizards of the Coast has the prologue for Paul S. Kemp’s The Godborn online right here.
  • Rounding book news up, Steve Perry posted that he’ll have some new books on the way. The Vastalimi Gambit should be out for Christmas, and The Dixie Conflict will be out in January.

Comics

  • Gabriel Hardman talks Kinski and movies on Worldballoon Podcast (the Thursday September 5th episode).

Conventions

  • Cincinnati Comic Con kicks off today and Star Wars artist Joe Corroney will be there along with fellow artists Chris Reiff, David Michael Beck and Mark McKenna.
  • Montreal Comicon also kicks off today and will have notable Star Wars celebrities such as Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, David Prowse plus Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actors George Takei and Katee Sackhoff.
  • For those near Lexington, Kentucky, you can check out Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actor Sam Witwer at Scarefest.
  • Small Press Expo runs Saturday and Sunday in North Bethesda, MD. Zack Giallongo, artist and writer for the upcoming Ewoks: Shadows of Endor will be there.

Games

  • Timothy Zahn‘s kickstarter for Parallax goes live today at 6:00 PM Mountain Time.

Interviews

  • SFFWRTCHT has a nice interview with author Paul S. Kemp covering a lot of his books.
  • Eleven-ThirtyEight has a pretty good interview with author Jason Fry covering Star Wars and his upcoming book The Jupiter Pirates.

Movies

  • On top of the rumor news as always, Club Jade reveals that the Star Wars spin off films could be origin stories and that cast may have begun for a young Han Solo.
  • A classic movie of the 80’s is getting a reboot. While I liked RoboCop as a kid, this new one has really got my attention: Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton. That’s a one hell of a supporting cast. Look for RoboCop in February 2014.
