Fiction State of Mind has an interview with Martha Wells on her upcoming book Empire and Rebellion: Razor’s Edge.
Tell me a little about how you became a part of the Empire & Rebellion series and the development of the Razors Edge story.
Martha Wells: I’d always been a Star Wars fan since I first saw the movie in 1977, when I was 13 years old. I wrote fanfic and met a lot of good friends through Star Wars fandom, so I was very happy to be offered the chance to write a book in the Empire and Rebellion series. The period between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back has so much potential for great stories, and it was the part of the trilogy that I always leaned toward when I was writing fanfic in high school and college. I’d always wanted to do something with space pirates so that was the first idea I suggested when doing the outline.
