Here’s this week’s look at news around the web.
Books
- Aaron Allston has a new short story (“Epistoleros”) out in the anthology Shadows of the New Sun. You can check it out on Amazon. You can also check out his author notes for free right here.
Comics
- Massive Fantastic posted an interview with Star Wars artist Dan Scott who has worked on comic covers for series such as Legacy, Knights of the Old Republic and Rebellion.
- Tom Taylor has a new comic project coming up. Sadly it’s not Star Wars, but Tom usually puts out some good stuff, so this may be worth checking out. It’s called M.I.D.A.S. and will be out in November from Gestalt Comics.
Conventions
- Dragoncon kicks off this weekend. Star Wars author Timothy Zahn has his schedule up here, Aaron Allston‘s is here and you can find Kevin J. Anderson‘s here. Authors Rebecca Moesta and Michael A. Stackpole will also be there along with Billy Dee Williams, Daniel Logan, Matthew Wood, Phil LaMarr, and Christian Waggoner.
- Worldcon (aka Lone Star Con) is also this weekend. You can find upcoming Star Wars author Martha Wells‘ schedule here. Upcoming Star Wars author Kevin Hearne, and Star Wars author Walter Jon Williams will also be there.
- Author Kevin J. Anderson has confirmed he’ll be at Salt Lake City Comic Con along with his wife and fellow author Rebecca Moesta.
- Gabriel Hardman (Legacy artist and writer) and Corrina Bechko (Legacy writer) will be heading to New York Comic Con this year. If you haven’t been keeping track, the Star Wars guest list keeps getting bigger and bigger. This one will definitely be worth the visit.
- Lastly in convention news, Star Wars artist Joe Corroney announced he’ll be attending Cincinnati Comic Con this year. Star Wars artist and droid builder Chris Reiff will also be there.
Fandom
- Pete over at Lightsaber Rattling has a rather detailed breakdown of why he thinks Star Wars Episode VII could be an April release.
Video Games
- Rovio posted a really funny behind the scenes video of Ian McDiarmid doing some voice work for Angry Birds Star Wars. Whether you like the Angry Birds or not, this one is worth watching.
