Continuing their series of interviews with Star Wars Celebration Europe II artists, Jedi News has posted an interview with Joe Corroney.

What was the inspiration behind your Celebration Europe piece?

Joe Corroney: I always wanted to illustrate a Boba Fett and Slave Leia scene. I love coming up with Expanded Universe moments which are not seen in the films. These little stories that could potentially happen I between scenes or from another character’s perspective. It makes drawing Star Wars exciting for me and its a fun challenge to come up with fresh ideas for main characters and a different take on the stories we least know and love so much. I thought this particular scene would work great as my new print for the thirtieth anniversary of Return of the Jedi this year at Star Wars Celebration Europe II.

Bombad Radio: Episode 84 includes two guests, Star Wars fanfic writer David Gremillion and stuntman, actor and choreographer Eric Jacobus. The first half with David Gremillion was…interesting. David has some harsh opinions on The Clone Wars that kind of rubbed me wrong, though everyone is entitled to their own opinion. In short order, David was not a fan of what they did with Darth Maul. His discussion segment primarily focuses on the two fanfic books he wrote which completely redid the prequels in a light of his imagining. Honestly, it wasn’t a discussion I had any investment in and it didn’t catch my interest. After that segment, the episode shifts to a review of the book Darth Plagueis. Since the book has been out for a while, it wan’t a review I was really interested in.

At this point, the episode was running really long, but there was a nice payoff at the end when they got to the interview with Eric Jacobus. Personally, I’d recommend skipping right to it. It was cool to hear him talk about his work, the movies he’s done and his opinions on action films. Plus he discussed a series of fan videos he’s doing which present Darth Vader from a first person perspective in various lightsaber fights. The series is called Vader Strikes Back and it’s on Youtube. They’ve got a kickstarter to raise money for more. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writer’s Chat spoke with author Paul S. Kemp about his latest book, A Discourse in Steel, and fans can view the transcript right here. Paul talks about the characters, writing the story, gives a mention to the third book A Conversation in Blood, and talks a little about his upcoming Forgotten Realms novel The Godborn which will be set 100 years after The Twilight War Trilogy. They also touched on the all important Star Wars question.

I believe you mentioned in the past a duology for Star Wars. When can we expect that?

Paul S. Kemp: Well, the Disney deal created some wrinkles. I’m under contract. But I’m on standby.

Aside from that, Paul mentioned a “fantasy-thriller-horror novel” he’s trying to find a home for. Until then, fans can pick up A Discourse in Steel in paperback and eBook, though getting the eBook can be a little tricky do to some issues over on Amazon. The Amazon release of the eBook has been delayed to at least the middle of July for US customers (no word yet on Amazon UK or international sites). However, you can get the eBook through Angry Robot Books, the publisher, right here.

With the release of Troy Denning’s Crucible getting nearer, we thought it would be a good time to take a look at the cover art. Thus we kick off another edition of our Roqoo Depot Galleria series highlighting the art of Star Wars.

Since Crucible‘s announcement at San Diego Comic Con in 2012, we’ve seen several cover designs for the anticipated Big 3 novel. All of them feature artwork by Cliff Nielsen (who also did the covers for Outbound Flight, Vector Prime, Balance Point, Star By Star, Destiny’s Way, The Unifying Force, the Dark Nest Trilogy and the Jedi Apprentice series) and are designed by Scott Biel.

It all started with this preliminary cover… Continue Reading The Star Wars Art of ‘Crucible’…
