George Lucas and Melody Hobson were married Saturday in a ceremony that guest Ron Howard described as a “joy to behold”. Also among the attendees was Samuel L. Jackson who tweeted “Let’s give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his bride Melodie on this, their wedding day”.
The news took most of the public by surprise as the wedding was expected to be held in Chicago on June 29, but George Lucas does have a way with delivering surprises. The ceremony was conducted somewhere in Marin County, California at Lucas’s Skywalker Ranch. Bill Moyers officiated, prompting Ron Howard to tweet that it was “…beautiful, nothing short of profound. congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Lucas.”

Jedi News Interviw with Brian Rood

Jedi News posted a really nice interview with Star Wars artist Brian Rood covering his painting for Star Wars Celebration Europe II.
What was the inspiration behind your Celebration Europe piece?
Brian Rood: I have wanted to do this painting for some time…I like the idea of seeing Boba Fett returning to his childhood home in his adult life. We don’t necessarily know what he is doing here. The viewer is not sure if Boba is coming or going…Is he having a moment of doubt or a moment of personal reflection. I love having artwork that can have dozens of possible stories behind one piece. The idea of portraying the actor Temuera Morrison as Boba is something that I have wanted to do since I first saw Episode II. I saw one of Art Andrews photographs of a crouching Boba Fett and that was the initial spark behind the characters pose and setting of this painting. The initial design was just Fett and his ship. It was fun but putting him in the rain in front of his childhood home, really added a new dimension to the story I was trying to portray.

Ostrander Tackles The Cheetah
June 24, 2013 at 7:47 am | Posted in Comic Books, DC Comics | Leave a commentTags: john ostrander
This September DC Comics is doing a special Villains Month where all the titles in the New 52 will feature villain centric story one-shots. Each issue will also feature a “3D motion image” cover. Of importance to Star Wars comic fans is that comic writer John Ostrander will be writing one of the issues: Wonder Woman #23.1: The Cheetah.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in my career among the, shall we say, wounded psyches of the bad guys. Although, I must say, Cheetah is pretty messed up…I think Cheetah is an exciting character to work with. Very primal, almost feral. Ferocious. Plus, she still has Barbara Minerva’s mind – a very intelligent woman. This, I think, makes her scary.” -John Ostrander
The art for Wonder Woman #23.1: The Cheetah will be by Victor Ibanez. Here’s the synopsis…
The Cheetah has clawed her way out of Belle Reve, and is hungry for blood—but before she steps up as one of the Secret Society’s most powerful generals, she has a personal score to settle! Learn the truth about the cult of Hippolyta, her vendetta against Wonder Woman, and just how far she’ll go to prove that she’s the most dangerous predator on Earth!
