ForceCast: Episode 252 includes a nice special guest segment with EUCantina’s William Devereux as they discuss EA and Star Wars games. The rest of the podcast covers other in the news items, however there is a lot of drawn out discussion that just isn’t very discussion worthy.
Episode 253 covers some Star Wars vs Star Trek material, unfortunately it’s rather long and not all that interesting. As a listener, I didn’t find myself drawn into the discussion. Even with a guest host, Christian Blauvelt, there wasn’t enough to keep my interest. Having given the new ForceCast a healthy try, I’m going to have to stop where I am because I’m just not enjoying the podcast. There are a lot of other podcasts I’d rather listen to, so from here on out there won’t be anymore reviews for the ForceCast unless they feature some author interviews or something else of particular interest.
Full of Sith: Episode XXIII kicks off with the news of Star Wars Rebels and some very interesting speculation of what we could see explored in the show including characters like Ahsoka, Ben Kenobi, Wedge, or a young Leia, Han and Lando. Then the hosts share their memories of seeing Return of the Jedi for the first time which was really cool. I liked getting to hear Consetta’s experience and how it differed from Mike, Travis and Bryan. The jokes with Mike and Travis having lunch with David Prowse and George Lucas were pretty funny, too. All in all, a great episode with fun discussion and some good humor.
Rebel Force Radio: Episode 5-17-2013 covers recent news, Kyle Newman’s Return to Return of the Jedi documentary, and the Patton “freaking” Oswald debate. As an added bonus, Steve Glosson sits in as a special host (in place of Jason Swank) and there’s a lot of humor. Great episode and definitely worth checking out.
Star Wars Action News: Episode 393 has a review of the new Endor AT-AT, a con report from Steve the Ginger Prince over in the UK, a full review from Jerry of all the Jabba the Hutt action figures, a review from Brock of Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void, and coverage of the Toyman Toy Show in St. Louis. I really liked Steve’s comment about not paying for a picture with Jabba the Hutt when he could just cozy up to a Wookiee for free (Steve always makes me laugh). I also liked the toy reviews of the AT-ATs and Jabba’s. Sadly Brock didn’t like Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void (a book I personally liked a lot) as he found it too predictable. Overall, though, it was a pretty good podcast with a variety of topics.
Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 5 has an awesome hour long interview with comic writer and author John Jackson Miller who pretty much covers everything – how he discovered Star Wars, all of his Star Wars comics and books, his upcoming book Kenobi and even his current sci-fi serial on Amazon, Overdraft: The Orion Offensive. This is probably the most in-depth audio interview with John I’ve ever heard, so it’s definitely worth listening to.
