Ashley Eckstein: Hi Everyone! Thank you for joining the chat! I am looking forward to your questions! Ask away!

Ashley, my question is simple – do you ever feel like you are bringing in a wider audience to Star Wars with how you have Her Universe and such a powerful character in The Clone Wars? Adding a breath of fresh air to the fanbase so to say?

AE: I do believe that The Clone Wars has introduced Star Wars to a new generation of fans. I also think having a female Jedi like Ahsoka has brought a lot more girls into the franchise. I think Her Universe has made it a lot easier for female fans to be vocal about the fact that they like Star Wars. Continue Reading Ashley Eckstein Live Chat Transcript…

Jedi Journals Interviews Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman

Jedi Journals did an interview with the creators behind the next installment of Dark Horse Comics’ Star Wars Legacy series: Corrina Bechko and Garbriel Hardman. The interview covers a little bit of their background, how they got the offer to do Star Wars, their creation process and more.

Gabriel, could you share a little about your art style and technique? How long have you been drawing Star Wars (since you were a kid? 2 Months? Whatever! :)

Gabrial Hardman: Well, I’m sure I’ve drawn Star Wars pieces here and there over the years but I started drawing on the series in earnest a few months ago. Much like drawing Planet of the Apes, it’s a great feeling to have a fully developed sense on the world going in. If something doesn’t feel like Star Wars, it doesn’t go in the book. Most of the ships and planets in our Legacy are new or evolutions of previous designs. When designing for Star Wars, I’m always asking myself if it will fit with the work of Ralph McQuarrie, Joe Johnston and Nilo Rodis.

SciFi News Interview with Drew Karpyshyn

February 27, 2013 at 7:38 am | Posted in Books, Fantasy, Interview, Sci-Fi, Star Wars, Star Wars Books | Leave a comment

drewkarpyshynSciFi News did an interview with Star Wars author Drew Karpyshyn. The interview covers Drew’s work in both the gaming and publishing industry, touching on some broad topics here and there.

You were successful at Stars Wars material both in gaming and in books. Did at first you feel like you were one of the chosen few who was lucky enough to enter the huge empire that makes up Star Wars? Also did you ever get the chance to meet George Lucas?

Drew Karpyshyn: Working with the Star Wars franchise is an honor, and I realized right from the start how lucky I was to be given the opportunity. There are a lot of folks out there who want to write for Star Wars, so you need some pretty strong credentials to get in. Luckily for me, my work on the KOTOR video game and my early Forgotten Realms novels was enough to convince the powers-that-be to give me a shot. But even though I’ve now written five Star Wars novels, I still haven’t had the chance to meet George Lucas himself.
