I love You.  I know.  It’s only been a couple of weeks (Dec. 21) since the Disney Deal became official, but George Lucas is wasting no time moving on with his life.  He announced, via a Lucasfilm rep to the Hollywood Reporter, that he and long time girlfriend, Melody Hobson, are engaged.  Ms. Hobson heads Ariel Investment Llc., is the chairman of Ariel Mutual Funds, as well as chairman of Dreamworks Animation.  Lucas and Hobson have been a duo since 2006.

One of the good guys.  In a story right out of Fanboys, only this time it’s unfortunately true, J.J. Abrams granted a dying fan’s wish and arranged a private screening of Star Trek: Into Darkness.  The fan, known only as Dan, has only weeks left when a friend posted his plight on Reddit.  The post eventually attracted the notice of Abrams who reached out to Dan and his wife.  Dan, who is suffering from two forms of cancer, reportedly loved the film.  Honestly, after hearing this, I won’t care if the film is terrible (which I doubt).  I’m going to love it.

As long as there are no Orcs.  Just a rumor at this point, but apparently Universal is talking to the Tolkien family about a Middle Earth theme park.  It seems Warner Bros. approached Universal with the idea because of the Wizarding World theme park success.  Word is the Tolkiens were receptive and even talked to J.K. Rowling, who reportedly is quite pleased with Wizarding World.  However, this is just in the beginning stages of talk so if it happens, it’ll be a few years down the road.

The end in sight? According to Brent Friedman, one of the writers for The Clone Wars, the end of the show has been plotted, “Best 2012 moment: Sitting in the conference room at Skywalker Ranch w/George, Dave & the gang as we plotted the end of Clone Wars.” But then Brent tweeted the following correction, “End is probably the wrong word. I should have said we plotted the transition from our TV series to Episode III.” Star Wars Underworld also reported the following via an inside source:

“the final/transitional arc that Friedman is referring to in his recent tweets. The arc has 3 episodes and will tie the series into the Battle of Coruscant that takes place at the beginning of Revenge of the Sith. Dave Filoni asked George Lucas if the arc should be placed at the end of Season 7, but Lucas told Filoni to continue writing episodes for more seasons. This supports the hypothesis that Season 8 is in early production.”

Tarkin joins SWU. The Clone Wars voice actor Stephen Stanton joined the Stars Wars Underworld podcast the other day for very a special episode. You can catch it here as Stephen talks about the droids arc, the upcoming 100th episode and more.

More TCW. One last thing from Star Wars Underworld, episodes of The Clone Wars are now available through Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, and Sony’s Video Unlimited.
