Book of Sith by Daniel Wallace will be getting a solo hardcover release finally. According to The Daily Blam! it will be out May 4, 2013 from Chronicle Books, however Amazon does have a pre-order page up with an April 16, 2013 release date. This release will be just for the book and none of the cool extras like the holocron book case.
UPDATE: Chronicle Books has the release date as “after April 3, 2013.” Furthermore Chronicle Books Spring 2013 Adult Trade Catalog confirms the April 16, 2013 release. While the date could change, April looks most likely.

The Star Wars Art of Mats Gunnarsson

The old vintage Star Wars action figures, while not always the most accurate depictions of their film counterparts, have a certain visual appeal. Part of it is nostalgic, but part of it is stylistic. The old figures had a look the mirrored the time period they were from.
Now if someone told me they were going to do an art portrait series on the vintage Star Wars figures, I wouldn’t have thought much of it. But sometimes seeing is believing.
Below are a series of oil paintings by Swedish artist Mats Gunnarsson. Mats captures the look of the old toys many of us grew up with as well as a tiny piece of the nostalgia of our childhoods. We also managed to snag a moment of Mats’ time and asked him a few questions. We hope you enjoy our gallery of Mats Star Wars artwork and his interview below.

The Hollywood Reporter posted a nice article on Kathleen Kennedy that sheds some light on how J.J. Abrams was brought on board for Star Wars Episode VII, as well as some comments on the projected 2015 release date.
“Our goal is to move as quickly as we can, and we’ll see what happens. The timetable we care about is getting the story.”
Click here to read the full interview. Aside from Abrams and Episode VII, it highlights Kennedy’s work on other films such as Lincoln, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and her long history with Spielberg. It’s worth reading.
