RUMOR REPORT: Marvel May End Up With Star Wars After All

MarvelStarWarsGeek System has reported through Blue Sky Disney that Marvel will acquire the Star Wars license after 2013!!  While this hasn’t been outright confirmed, here is what’s being bandied about:

The Suits in the know have determined that no new contracts will be given to Dark Horse after the current ones expire. So all new projects after 2013 will be handled internally by Marvel.

It’s not known yet if titles will be worked into the regular line up, or will Marvel create a special branch of the company that deals with Star Wars. It’ll take a couple of years for the old deals to work there course, but the stories that Dark Horse have coming down the pipeline will be the last. And you can expect anything new from Marvel dealing with Star Wars to arrive around 2015.

Very, very interesting talk to say the least and the move wouldn’t really surprise, but take this with a dash of salt until this is officially announced or debunked.

Hollywood.com Interviews Timothy Zahn

Hollywood.com posted a nice interview with author Timothy Zahn covering his upcoming novel Scoundrels.

It’s a departure for you as well, because it feels more like a one-off, standalone adventure. It doesn’t feature some of the characters that recur in your work like Thrawn or Mara Jade.

TZ: Actually, that was part of the goal with this. Shelly Shapiro, the Del Rey editor, and Sue Rostoni, who was handling these things for Lucas Licensing at the time, were looking for a story that could appeal to Star Wars fans who weren’t necessarily Star Wars readers. There are 150+ Star Wars novels out there and for someone who isn’t already familiar with them the whole thing can look a little intimidating. So my goal was to do a story that could draw in fans who don’t know anything about the Expanded Universe. What kind of story could do that? That story is Scoundrels. If you’ve seen the Original Trilogy, you’re good to go.

You can check out the full interview here.
