Star Wars Overload or Misquote?

November 15, 2012 at 12:53 pm | Posted in Episode VII, Movies, Star Wars News | Leave a comment

Kotaku has got a hold of an early copy of the upcoming Entertainment Weekly Star Wars issue with includes the following quote.

“Lucasfilm’s co-chairman and soon-to-be president, Kathleen Kennedy, has told employees she wants the company to produce two or three films a year (it’s averaged fewer than four per decade), and first up is Star Wars: Episode VII for 2015, which will pick up sometime after Darth Vader gave his life to overthrow (figuratively and literally) the Emperor and save Luke in 1983’s Episode VI— Return of the Jedi. Yes, the plan is to return to the characters in the first trilogy (1977–83). Whether the original actors will have significant roles or merely be on hand to pass the baton to a new generation of actors—something Lucasfilm tried with mixed success with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Disney with TRON: Legacy—is unclear.”

As has been speculated elsewhere, this could be a misquote of the previous announcement that we’ll be seeing a new Star Wars film every 2 to 3 years (rather than the above quoted 2 to 3 films every year). However, the quote doesn’t specifically say 2 to 3 Star Wars films each year, so this could cover territory beyond the franchise. One thing that caught my interest was the admission that we will see a return of the characters from the original trilogy. Hopefully this means Hamill, Ford, and Fisher.

Novella’s are an interesting category of stories. They’re longer than short stories but too short to standalone as a full novel. They’re also the perfect length for eBooks, yet finding one that’s worth the money is another matter. Fortunately, Two Ravens and One Crow is worth the money. Kevin Hearne provides fans of the Iron Druid Chronicles a nice little burst of adventure that fills in the gaps between stories and sets up a whole new adventure. Click here to read our full review.
