Bombad Radio Interview with Drew Karpyshyn

Bombad Radio posted an interview with Star Wars author Drew Karpyshyn. The interview covers Drew’s work as a writer for Star Wars and Mass Effect as well as how he got into writing.
What drove you to go into the game industry, following your time as a loan officer?
Drew Karpyshyn: It was really just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. I left banking to resume my education, and while I was working on my Masters Degree in English at the University of Alberta I saw an ad in the English Department newsletter from a local game company looking for writers. I figured it would be a small company that might pay me a few hundred dollars for some work, so I answered the ad. Turns out the company was BioWare, and they were already pretty successful – Baldur’s Gate had been released the year before. They offered me a full time position, and the idea of getting paid to write stories was too good to pass up.

Tom Taylor’s dream has finally come true: he’s going to write Superman. Tom announced on his site that he’ll be writing the upcoming series Injustice: Gods Among Us for DC Comics. The new series will help promote the upcoming video game with the same name. Joining Tom for the series is artist Jheremy Raapack. The new series will not only include Superman, but Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Flash, Joker, Harley Quinn, Cyborg, Nightwing and others.
“This series…is one of the most exciting, terrifying, heartfelt, epic and nasty stories I’ve ever had the pleasure to write. While the exact details of Injustice are still sketchy, I can tell you that the game script that the NetherRealm people have put together is seriously good. It’s great to see a fighting game with such a rich story. You’re all in for a real treat.” -Tom Taylor
Injustice: Gods Among Us #1 will be out on January 30, 2013.
