Lucky us.  A couple of planetary scientists in St. Louis have proven, with computer simulations, that planets can actually be vaporized.  That gleeful noise you hear is Grand Moff Tarkin cackling.  Discovery News has the full story here.

When you’re the most populated country on this planet I’m not sure building the world’s largest battery is a wise use of space, but the Chinese have done just that.  It’s a 36-megawatt-hour monster and the Chinese didn’t end it with that.  It’s hooked into 140 megawatts of wind and solar power.  Still, I guess there’s one benefit of a battery this size; it’s going to be pretty hard to misplace it.  PopSci has a full report on the project. One thing there was plenty of at Star Wars Celebration VI is cosplay. Everywhere you looked, there was someone dressed up as something. The endless cosplayers added a ton of fun to the convention. Really, it wouldn’t be the same without them. Now it was impossible to get a picture of them all, so I’ve put together a photo gallery of all the ones I could catch. Enjoy!

Among the numerous booths at Star Wars Celebration VI was some amazing artists. Many were located in the Acme Archives area but a few had their own dedicated tables. There were comic artists, book artists, and everything in between. We’ve put together a photo gallery so you can get an idea of all the tables, artists, and artwork that was on display. Enjoy!

Christie Golden’s Fable: Edge of the World came out recently, and amidst the chaos of Star Wars Celebration VI, I managed to consume the novel with a healthy appetite. This was a real fun novel and I loved what Christie was able to pull off with it. Click here to read our full review.

According to Fusible, Lucasfilm has registered trademarks and domain names for “Star Wars: First Assault” including the domain name StarWarsFirstAssault.com. Not much else is known yet, but this is a pretty good indicator that we may be seeing another video game title in the Star Wars franchise.

I’ll freely admit I can’t track down who released these images, but there’s some stunning concept art for Star Wars 1313 floating around on the internet.  So far Shogun Gamer, Super Punch, and Syfy Blastr have all published the art with a vibe that’s saying this is definitely not your usual Star Wars game.

While everyone else at Star Wars Celebration VI headed off to the Mark Hamill panel, me and a few dozen others went to the Star Wars University room for One Writer’s Approach to Star Wars. The panel featured Dark Horse Comics Editor Randy Stradley and upcoming Star Wars comic writer Brian Wood, with a special appearance by Lucasfilm/LucasBooks Senior Editor Jennifer Heddle in the audience. I was able to record the audio for the panel, so enjoy!
