It’s got to be Zahn for me! His novels feel the most like the films!
Comment by mrushing02— August 31, 2012 #
The obvious answer is Zahn, but I really have to go with Karpysnyn for the Bane novels. I read thru those three books faster than any other series! I could not put them down! And I don’t even care for that time period. I generally like the later time from the NJO to Fate, but was captured by the back story of the Rule of Two. Great series!

It’s definitely going to have to be Drew Karpyshyn with his Bane books!! Truly awesome material!!!

Although I’ve always been a die hard Zahn fan, John Jackson Miller has swayed me to his camp by being consistently awesome in books and comics.

You have to go with Zahn. How can anyone top the Thrawn Trilogy? If not for the actual content of the books themselves (which is enough for me), then for all the wonderful EU content that their popularity drove.
Comment by Paul Osu Buckeye Dodd— August 31, 2012 #
I’ve got to go with Zahn. He is who got me started in the EU and remains one of my favorites. I haven’t read a Zahn SW book yet that I do not like.
Comment by Pat Douglas— August 31, 2012 #
Zahn definitely. Mara’s just too awesome, and that trilogy is just too great.
Comment by SarahSparrow— August 31, 2012 #
I got to go with Zahn on this one. He introduced my two favorite characters to the timeline, Mara Jade and Grand Admiral Thrawn. I always enjoy his entries into the series and cant wait for the next one.

Like most everyone else… Its gotta be Timothy Zahn. The Thrawn Trilogy helped make me into the Star Wars fan I am today.
Comment by William Carey— August 31, 2012 #
I appreciate John Jackson Millers work for darkhorsecomics comics & his tweets are great!

Timothy Zahn it is. He’s had some hits and misses lately, but doesn’t everyone? The Thrawn Trilogy is a classic I’ve read more than any other Star Wars books. It was, and is, the epitome of epic. :)

i really admire the Tim Zahn’s novels. it really had me start with the SW books from 1991. i’m ready for more SW novels he is already working on now.

John Jackson Miller! Love his KOTOR series
Comment by Andy— August 31, 2012 #
I’m going to have to agree with Andy. I think John Jackson Miller takes it with the KOTOR series!

Troy Denning! He seems to catch a lot of negativity lately with his most recent contributions, but I love the amount of action he puts into his stories.
Comment by Sonny Jannoni— September 2, 2012 #
It has to be Denning for me. I really got back into the EU by reading (on accident of course) tempest of the LOTF series.
Comment by Richard Taveira— September 2, 2012 #
Tim Zahn. His work was my first introduction to the SWEU and I’ve never looked back since then. I love how Zahn is able to capture the personality and feel of the star wars universe, I can picture his novels vividly like a movie in my mind. I’m really excited about scoundrels!
Comment by Joshua— September 2, 2012 #
I gotta go with zahn. He brought us Mara, thrawn, paleon, and the noghri. And had he not done it, the entire EU wouldn’t be what it is today.
Comment by Jr south— September 2, 2012 #
Out of the authors listed, I would have to pick Drew Karpyshyn, since I enjoyed every one of his EU books.
Comment by Brian V. Klein— September 2, 2012 #
Denning is probably my favorite but Zahn is right up there.
Comment by Buckaroo.Jedi— September 2, 2012 #
