New ‘Merlin’ Season 5 Trailer
July 31, 2012 at 8:47 am | Posted in Fantasy, Syfy | Leave a commentTags: BBC, merlin, syfy
Just released by BBC, the new season 5 Merlin trailer. Julian Murphy (Merlin co-creator) has this to say about the new season:
“I think it’s interesting because you saw a glimpse (of a stronger, focused and more powerful Merlin) at the end of the last series, particularly when he killed Agravaine. We’re really interested in taking him on that journey with all its dangers and the temptations it will bring, so that will be a big part of the fifth series.”
Also be on the lookout for some guest stars (hint: Game of Thrones).
Merlin will be carried on BBC One in the fall and for U.S. audiences on Syfy in January, 2013

July 31, 2012 at 8:21 am | Posted in Art, Celebration | Leave a commentTags: jeff carlisle
Of all the exclusive art prints heading to Star Wars Celebration VI this year, Jeff Carlisle’s is one of the most interesting. His piece entitled “A Fan’s Hope, Naam’s Huttese Theater, Tatooine” combines the fun aspect of a Where’s Waldo picture with all the great elements of Star Wars. Yet if you look closer, the people populating the picture aren’t just the iconic movie characters…they’re real people. Jeff took the time to include his friends, fellow artists, enthusiastic Star Wars fans and cosplayers, and even himself. Oh, and there is a Waldo in the picture, but it’s a WLD-O droid. ‘STALAG-X’ Announced
July 30, 2012 at 9:53 am | Posted in Art, Comic Books, Gestalt | Leave a commentTags: dave dorman, kevin j. anderson, mike ratera, stalag-x
Kevin J. Anderson has announced his new sci-fi comic project with Gestalt Comics: STALAG-X.
“STALAG-X is a gritty story of human soldiers trying to survive in an alien concentration camp, and one mysterious prisoner who calls himself “Joe Human.” He cannot allow the vicious aliens to win . . . but because of his own dark past, he doesn’t dare allow himself to be rescued either.” -Kevin J. Anderson
Along with Steven Sears, the two developed the idea for film or television, but after being introduced to Wolfgang Bylsma at Gestalt Comics, decided to switch gears. They have also recruited legendary comic artist Dave Dorman to do the covers and Mike Ratera for the interior art.
There’s no release date yet, but Kevin has posted some of the concept art on his blog which you can check out here.
