Spike TV has announced that this Thursday a new Star Wars video game franchise will be revealed on a pre-E3 episode of GameTrailers TV. This will be followed up by a full game trailer premier at the E3 Expo which starts June 4th. So far no one knows what the new franchise will be, but there’s plenty of speculation: Knights of the Old Republic III, Battlefront III, The Force Unleashed III, a Boba Fett Kinect game, or something entirely new.

  1. I may be mistaken but doesn’t “a new Star Wars video game franchise” mean it won’t be a sequel to any existing Star Wars game series?

  2. @Will: hopefully it means a brand new franchise, but there’s always the possibility it could be a sequel.

  3. Yeah I hope it’s a new series. I expect it has something to do with the announcement last year of a deal between Lucasarts and the Unreal 3 engine. http://lucasarts.com/company/release/news20110426.html
