Boba Fett is dead.  The man who survived the Sarlacc in the Pit of Carkoon is dead; or at least for now.  So begins the newest Blood Ties arc from Tom Taylor and Dark Horse.  After the break you can read my review of Boba Fett’s death.

We find Boba Fett laying on the ground with a “gaping wound to where his head should be.” It certainly appears that Fett is indeed dead, but his legacy definitely lives on.  Conner Freeman has stepped in to avenge his death and hunt down those responsible.  The artwork done by Chris Scalf is amazing and really helps propel the story along its path.

Connor tracks down Captain Sibar, the Zabrak captain who helped kill Boba Fett.  The meeting does not go well for the good captain and Connor learns another clue in the trail to who hired the kill squad.  Connor goes to Sathiemon where Fett was gunned down and finds the stormtrooper commander who brought in Sibar.  In an amazing twist of fate, after Connor learns who brought in the trooper, Connor leaves him to the wrath of his dewback.  I hope someday Imperials learn how to treat their animals better, maybe next time they won’t eat their owners if given the chance.

I thought that everything flowed very well throughout the issue and seeing Connor drop a mind trick on port security was mighty impressive as well.  Tom has done a nice jump of keeping the intrigue flowing through the issue and Chris Scalf’s artwork is some of the best in the industry.  While I find it difficult to believe that Boba Fett is really dead, mainly because of later EU sources, I’m still interested in seeing where the story ends up after 4 issues.  Ultimately I’m in hopes that we see more of the ruthless Fett that I have always preferred over the leader of a bunch of farmers who happen to be Mandalorians as well.

Putting everything together from the story and the art I give this issue a 4 out of 5 brass bikinis.
