Jedi Journals interviewed Tom Taylor for the release of his new Star Wars comic this week: Boba Fett is Dead #1. Tom talks about all his comics both Star Wars and non-Star Wars, his work process as a comic writer, and of course Darth Maul: Death Sentence.

You had the opportunity to write several characters from the films (Luke [at two points in his life], Vader, Boba & Jango, Maul); which of these characters is the most challenging to write? Is there one that you “get” the most? Who’s your favorite original character you’ve created?

Tom Taylor: Maul is probably the most challenging, simply because he’s undergone this incredible transformation since we first saw him many years ago. His character has been changed completely and it’s a little difficult to roll with that. Having said that, I’m having a great time writing him, and I think Darth Maul: Death Sentence is going to be a great read.

Today Crimson Empire III: Empire Lost #6 hits store shelves. This is the last issue of the third arc in the series, and may very well be the end of the series itself.

It’s the final showdown between Admiral Pellaeon’s Imperial forces and those of his hardliner adversaries, with the New Republic joining in the fray! The outcome could mean peace—or extended war for the galaxy. But will either alternative matter for the last surviving member of Emperor Palpatine’s Royal Guard? Kir Kanos is a man on the edge—a man without a past, and only questions for the future!
