Podcast: Stream Here | Download
In this installment, hosts Brian and Nanci pat themselves on the back for making it episode two, proclaiming the show is now “a thing.” Right off the bat we talk about a pair of new releases in the world of Star Wars books, Darth Plagueis and the Haynes Millennium Falcon Owner’s Workshop Manual. Nanci talks about her article examining the effect of the prequel films on the Expanded Universe and dives into FSL Tonight, a delightful mashup of sports and fandom. Meanwhile, Brian rants about the lack of sales metrics in print literature*. Both of us take a few minutes to gush about the latest book we’ve read, The Hunger Games.
*Really. We tried to stop him. We’re so sorry.
Next up we take a look at death in the Expanded Universe, examining six instances where death worked and six instances where it left us grumbling. Be warned, the hosts are feelin’ ranty today!
Closing out the episode, Brian and Nanci highlight their picks for fanworks of the week:
Nanci’s featured fanwork pick: Lord Vader’s Limpet by frodogenic
Brian’s featured fanwork pick: Rob’s replica speeder bike handle lightsaber from I, Jedi.
Also, be sure to check out the Star Wars Book Report’s fan fiction contest.

Star Wars: ‘Dawn of the Jedi #0’ Review
February 1, 2012 at 12:01 am | Posted in Comic Books, Dark Horse, Reviews | Leave a commentTags: dawn of the jedi
“For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times… before the Empire.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope.
For nearly 35 years fans have been left waiting to see the origins of the Jedi. Now in a bold step Dark Horse’s creative team of John Ostrander and Jan Duursema are tackling the very story some thought would never be told. Today sees the release of Dawn of the Jedi #0, the issue that sets the stage for the origins of the Jedi. Roqoo Depot is going to take a closer look at this issue, but we are doing it in a unique way. Joining me in this review is my wife, Mrs Corax, a Star Wars fan who doesn’t have much experience with the Expanded Universe. Together we will answer the question of whether this series works for experienced EU readers and those new to the EU. Be warned there are definitely going to be huge SPOILERS for this issue. Be prepared to take your first steps in to a larger world.

Here’s your first look at the Star Wars of 25,000 years ago–before there were lightsabers, when the ties to the Force were new, and before the Jedi spread out into the galaxy.
