New Superfast Memory Chips

Ghent would be drooling over this news…IBM has unveiled the prototype Racetrack memory chip which boosts read/write speeds to potentially a 100,000 times faster than current commercial hard disks. That’s a big boast, and if the technology can live up to the claim, consumers could see an enormous change in the IT market.
According to BBC News, the Racetrack technology relies on magnetic nanowires which can convey electrical pulses. Using the electrical pulses, they can manipulate magnetic read/write heads to create the standard 1’s and 0’s that represent data. The data is raced along the wires, hence “Racetrack.” Continue Reading New Superfast Memory Chips…

Today we wish a very happy birthday to author Aaron Allston. Aaron started off in the Star Wars Expanded Universe with X-Wing: Wraith Squardon in 1998. Since then, he has written twelve novels for Star Wars with another book on the way.
Aaron was born in Corsicana, Texas. He graduated from Denton High School and attended the Univeristy of Texas. He worked as an editor for Space Gamer magazine, and as a freelance game designer before becoming a novelist. His first published novel was Web of Danger based on the Top Secret/S.I. game line. Several novels later, his work with Michael A. Stackpole in the gaming industry paid off when he got the opportunity to write several of the books in the Star Wars X-Wing series.
Aside from books, Aaron directed, wrote, and produced the independent film Deadbacks. He’s also a bit of a movie aficionado with a weakness for zombie flicks.
If you’d like to find out more about Aaron Allston, you can check out his official website and blog. Don’t forget to swing by Twitter and wish him a happy birthday! You can also find him on Facebook.
