The Old Republic Expected To Outperform Earnings Estimates

Economics is, after all, a science. It has it’s own set of rules and equations to which we must adhere. It is a science I’m sure we all wish was being studied and applied with greater veracity these days. This being a Star Wars fan site I thought I could bring the fictional world of the galaxy far far away to us in the realest way possible. Finding a way to make real money from our favorite science fantasy.
This morning Wall St. analyst Cowens Equity Research Associates has upgraded video game maker EA to an “outperform” rating from a “neutral” rating for the first time since the company began tracking EA’s financial in 2005. Cowen analyst Doug Creutz is quoted in a Yahoo! Business article as saying, “Since ‘Star Wars‘ became available for pre-orders three weeks ago, it has tracked very strongly on the Amazon.com top-selling video games list. We believe it is trending as well or better than two of the top-selling PC titles last year, Blizzard’s ‘Starcraft 2‘ and ‘World of Warcraft: Cataclysm‘, both of which went on to sell over 4 million units. We are raising our ‘Star Wars‘ first year sell-though estimate to 3 million units from 1.5 million units and our run-rate subscriber estimate to 2 million from 1 million.” Continue Reading The Old Republic Expected To Outperform Earnings Estimates…
Happy Birthday, Ian McDiarmid

Today Roqoo Depot wishes actor Ian McDiarmid a very happy birthday. For Star Wars fans, Mr. McDiarmid is most famous for playing the role of Palpatine, be it Emperor or Senator, in five of the six Star Wars films.
Ian was born in Carnoustie, Scotland. At an early age he developed a love for acting, but ended up studying for a M.A. in Clinical Psychology at the University of St. Andrews. Later he switched to theater at the Royal Academy of Glasgow. He focused on theater and starred in many Shakespearean plays, winning numerous awards. From 1990 to 2001, he was also the Joint Artistic Director of London’s Almeida Theatre. His role as Harry Hackamore in the play Seduced (1982) netted the attention of George Lucas. and Return of the Jedi director Richard Marquand. Chicago Comic Con Kicks Off

Today the Chicago Comic Con kicks off. Running from August 11-14, the event will feature many guests including the following Star Wars celebrities:
- Ray Park (Darth Maul)
- Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca)
- Bonnie Piesse (Aunt Beru in the prequels)
- Daxiong (artist)
- Dave Dorman (comic artist)
- Tom Hodges (artist)
- Michael Golden (writer and illustrator for Marvel Comics Star Wars 38)
- Paul Mounts (Jedi – The Dark Side colorist)
The 501st’s Bloodfin Garrison and Midwest Garrison will also be there along with the Rebel Legion’s Nar Shadaa Base and the Ohio Star Wars Collectors Club. Aside from Star Wars, there will be a lot of celebrities in attendance such as Patrick Stewart, Bruce Campbell, Christopher Lloyd and many others.
