Highlights of Comic Con’s Friday Schedule

The schedule for Friday July 22 has been released for Comic Con. Here are the Star Wars highlights…

  • LEGO Star Wars panel will not only focus on the Lego Star Wars team, but will also reveal a special Lego Star Wars entertainment event (early screening of The Padawan Menace?). Writer Michael Price will be a part of the panel and there will be a question and answer session.
  • Hasbro Star Wars panel will feature the Hasbro Marketing (Derryl DePriest and Jeff Labovitz) and Design (Michelino Paolino and Mark Boudreaux) teams covering the remaining products for 2011 and a sneak peak at 2012.
  • Star Wars Books panel will headline with author Timothy Zahn and Del Rey editor Shelly Shapiro to discuss Star Wars: Heir to the Empire 20th Anniversary and future titles.
  • Dark Horse Comics: 20 Years of Star Wars panel will take a look back at the past and what’s to come. Randy Stradley, Mick Harrison, Scott Allie, Stephane Roux, John Jackson Miller, Dave Filoni, the Fillbach Brothers, Timothy Zahn, and Shelly Shapiro will all be there with exclusive news, images, and giveaways.
  • Star Wars Collectibles Update panel with Bryan Ono (eFX), Ashly Powell (Gentle Giant Studios), Dan Lujan (Kotobukiya), and Brant Bridges (Sideshow Collectibles) will be showing off exclusive previews and behind the scenes insights. Moderated by Chris Spitale (Lucas Licensing).
  • Rendering the Galaxy Far, Far Away: The Digital Art and Light of The Clone Wars panel will take a behind the scenes look at how the show is made. Dave Filoni, Joel Aron, Pablo Hidalgo and others will be there.
  • Star Wars actor Mark Hamill will be part of the panel for Sushi Girl, which marks his return to the movies. The official trailer will be premiered with a questions and answers session.

Apocalypse Excerpt Previews New Series

According to the Random House, spring 2012 catalog, page 60, the ninth and final book in the Fate of the Jedi series, Apocalypse will contain an:

Extensive excerpt of book one of the next Star Wars series.

Star Wars Invades Dubai

TheNational posted an interesting article on an upcoming book called Dark Lens that will portray the city of Dubai pictorially. However, there’s a twist: the picture will all include elements from Star Wars. Be it Stormtroopers marching through the streets or X-wings flying overhead, each picture will contain a different piece of the Star Wars saga to show Dubai in a whole new light. Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace airs July 22!

Surprising news on the television front, StarWars.com revealed yesterday that on July 22 at 7:00 pm ET/PT Cartoon Network will air a 30 minute Lego Star Wars special entitled Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace.
