New Books on the Horizon: Star Wars and History

Perhaps an essay on how Germany influenced the creation of the Empire?

The New York Times revealed Sunday that a new project is underway, and George Lucas is on board. Star Wars and History is a book planned for 2013 with publisher John Wiley & Sons. The book will be composed of essays that take a look at how history made it’s way into Star Wars. The essays will be around 5,000 to 7,000 words each and will be contributed by numerous individuals. The project is being headed by Pace University history professor Nancy Reagin and Laurentian University associate professor Janice Liedl, both in cooperation with George Lucas. Also of particular interest is the mention of the project turning into a series that would follow up with books on science and politics. The premise sounds rather intriguing. StarWars.com unveiled a three page preview of the upcoming Invasion: Revelations #1. Written by Tom Taylor, and illustrated by artist Colin Wilson, Revelations #1 will be out July 13. Click here to view the preview.
