Michael A. Stackpole has written a lot of good Star Wars tales including I, Jedi and Rogue Squadron. Continuing my quest to read non-Star Wars books by some of my favorite Star Wars authors, I decided to try one of Stackpole’s most recent works At The Queen’s Command. It’s the first novel in a new series he’s doing called the Crown Colonies that takes place in the 1760’s. However, as much as this novel reads, sounds, and even looks like a piece of historical fiction it is something much more fun. In this era of history the superpowers are two countries called Norisle and Tharyngia. The book itself centers on an army captain and his adventure to the untamed frontier of Mystria. But this version of America has creatures and mysteries that do not exist in our reality. Click here to read my full review.
