Updates from Sue Rostoni
March 15, 2011 at 1:18 pm | Posted in Star Wars News | Leave a commentTags: conviction, riptide, sue rostoni
Sue Rostoni, executive editor at Lucas Licensing , posted on the starwars.com forums a few tidbits about Riptide and Conviction…
So, if I may ask… what precipitated said Riptide cover change?
Sue: The sales folks at Random House weren’t sure it was strong enough–not as dynamic as they’d like.
On a semi-related note… How’s Conviction’s back cover coming along? I would’ve thought we’d have gotten it by now.
Sue: The back cover art was submitted just this week. We’ll be reviewing it today, and if it passes muster, should be posted sometime next week.
You can check it out for yourself here.

TCW Season 3 Finale
March 15, 2011 at 1:09 pm | Posted in Star Wars News, The Clone Wars | Leave a commentClone Wars on Sky, United Kingdom reports (via twitter) that the season three finale is so moving it brought them to tears. This really has me wondering what happens, and wild speculation is running rampant here on Roqoo Depot. Among other things could this be the end of Ahsoka? Guess those of us on this side of the pond will just have to wait (impatiently) for April 1st.

Atlantis Discovered…or Not
March 15, 2011 at 12:04 pm | Posted in Science News | Leave a commentA long time ago in a galaxy not so far away…in the Donaña National Park in Spain to be precise, scientists have unearthed a discovery they believe to be the lost ruins of Atlantis. Buried underneath the mudflats located in the southern tip of Spain, archaeologists have discovered what appears to be a communal oven, possible canals, and several small statues. The discoveries were made using grand penetrating radar and so far none of the structures have been excavated. The mythical city of Atlantis, recorded by the Greek philosopher Plato, would be over 4,000 years old. The archaeologists were particular pleased with finding the small statues because they will be able to date them thus giving them a good idea of how old the city is. So far, they believe the statues are characteristic of the bronze age which would place them in the right time period.
Scientists believe the city may have been hit by a tsunami, burying the city in flood waters and silt, causing it to be lost to time. If this is true, then it would also coincide with Plato’s description of the city being lost in single day. Furthermore the area is near the Straight of Gibraltar, just like the fabled city of Atlantis is believed to be. Regardless of whether the city is really Atlantis or not, it’s still a very interesting find. You can read more about here, in the Vancouver Sun, and here, on Reuters.

Now if they could just figure out where the Stargate is hidden...

The exhibit will be focusing on several themes including the vehicles featured in Star Wars and how they relate to real world space ships and theoretical flying cars. The last theme the exhibit will touch upon is how the inhabitants in Star Wars adapt to their environments with the use of technology. Planets getting a special spotlight include Coruscant, Hoth, Kashyyyk, and Tatooine. According to their site, the exhibit will feature more than 80 props from the films, exclusive video footage, and over a dozen interactive exhibits. This includes:
